I love to hear about good deals on cast iron! Can never have too much.

Well, I guess that depends on who you ask.

You have to be careful of 'good deals' like this. Examine the DO carefully. Look for possible thin spots in the casting. Put the lid on the DO and try to rock the lid. If it rocks, then it isn't a good fit. (I have not yet seen a DO with the Cabelas brand that has a tight-fitting lid). A tight-fitting lid is a must, as it allows the DO to partially act as a pressure cooker.
Bottom is, be discriminating when it comes to choosing inexpensive DOs.

The deal was at WalMart, and it was for a 12" Lodge camp DO. I got one here for the same price.....it's perfect.

Queen I took your advice and went back for another one today. We need one for dessert right ? Maybe one for the corn bread ? I better stay away until they're gone. They have about 8 left up on the top shelf.
Thanks for the " Tip " Mike, I checked them and they seem just fine . I'll try it out tomorrow with a pork roast.
Tom,
now that you bought one don't try and steal my Mexican pulled pork idea for CNTL2. The mudslides should be on tap by then. I owe you one or two.

Hey you could by all of them and sell them for $25 at a rally. The funny thing about wal-mart they sell everything at a cheep rate at the end of the year for the product. They they will have more soon at the regular price. It dose not make sence to me but they have been doing it for years.

Well I tried out the wally-world bargain Lodge DO today. It went great for the first time but the veggies got a little overdone before the meat got tender, I'll add them later next time. It cooked really fast in the weber and it had warmed up to over 40 degrees today so it was a nice day for grilling and the neighbor and the mailman even stopped by to eat.
I will try some more things again real soon. Please don't tell the kids I'm cooking or they will expect those indoor meals.
I'll add a couple photos of my first attempt to my album.
