Jarred (Luckey) is having computer trouble, so he asked that I post these pics of a very cool and unique waffle iron. Can't remember the casting marks. He found it at a recent outing in Southern Indiana antique store for ......$10!!!! He lives up to his name! Has a interesting handle and opening mechanism! The score of the weekend!

I have been silent long enough about the waffle iron that I bought down at madison. Does anyone know anything about it? Has anyone seen one before, are they rare? Should I use it? clean it up or what. i haven't done anything about it because i'm not sure yet. I know that the guys in the hoosier club well kill me when they find out that I haven't cleaned it up yet, but i have had different feedback about it. I was just wondering about it. Thanks for reading.

It's cast iron it's meant to be used otherwise it gets sad.
I saw a square version in an antique store up here wasn't a bad price but more than I had and no where near as good a deal as you got :envious: .

 Waffles Sunday after next

Jarred, what is the "brand" name on it? I don't remember if it had dates or not. It is really unusual and someone on the forum should be able to help if we can't figure it out.

$10 huh! Did you go back and give the guy the $20 that you owed him? That was way too cheap. Must be a mistake. I'd feel guilty.

If you give me the $20, I make sure he gets it.

Nope I didn't go back. I might try to this next year if we get back there. I think if I can remember right it said " Detroit iron" 1876 was the date. that's if my memory serves me right. I'll have to look now it'll drive me nuts. But I had better get going, people need heat. Have a great days guys.

I've been trying to pick up a waffle iron myself. I just saw this iron (Detroit Iron & Brass Mfg Co) go for $32.50 plus $18.50 shipping on Ebay. I know people over pay on Ebay all the time, but, it looks like you made a great score at only ten bucks :applause:
