Did Griswold make a chrome skillet?

I forgot about this until tonight but while I was in Minden for the ITG, the town had a citywide garage sale (co-winky dink, I think not) and I ran across a 10" Griswold frying pan that had either chrome or nickle plating on it. Funny thing was it that the shiny stuff was only on the handle and part way down the inside of the skillet. The bottom and the rest of the sides had a nice patina on it so it was well used but I didn't need another 10-incher (got 6 now).
Was this a freak of nature or some promotional item?

Yes, Griswold did have nickel plated skillets.

Cool, well that answers that. I just didn't know if someone had chromed a skillet somewhere along the way and the chrome was flaking off.

I picked up this shiney #8 griswold today for $5, gave $3 for the little one. The teardrop now has its stash of frypans.....

Yep, but yours is in ALOT better shape than the one I saw. Those'll make good pans for the camper.

this one is in pretty nice shape, the plating is all nice and not beat up or flaking, doesnt appear to have been used much.. $5 a good buy? lololol
I figured for 5 clams I could leave my old faithful that Ive been using in the house for 25 years at home..I will probably spend the rest of my life looking for a small 6 inch chrome one...

Is there a casting number on the griswold?
its a 704Z I cleaned it up, Ill snap a nicer pic after supper. The little one cleaned right up and took a seasoning well, that pan will get alot of miles on it, just right for eggs..No MFG on it anywhere, just a #3 with a line under it...

cool, thanks for the info Kevin! It would be interesting to know the value of the plated ones to. gotta be more than plain cast Im guessing. Was an expensive pan for the timeframe it was born in. I bet many got melted down during the war..
