Im wondering whats the difference between a small and large logo on a griswold skillet. Im guessing its time periods, but does anybody know them?

YEA I KNOW,,,,, wrong kind of iron but i couldnt resist.....

I have heard the the difference in the sise of the logo was pre sale of company and post sale of company but cannot find any info that confirms this.

Seriously, though, here's the skinny on Griswold trademarks:

Earliest pans were generally marked ERIE. C.1880-1907

Next came "GRISWOLD'S ERIE" c.1907-09
Following was the first round trademark, the "slant TM" with slanted GRISWOLD name. C.1909-24

Next came what's become to be called the "block TM" with "blocky style vertical GRISWOLD. C. 1924-40

Almost last was the small tm that was uniformly about 1-1/2" diameter from 1939 through 1957.

And at the very last was the "late large TM" which was a lot larger than the small TM but had a different style (slightly) from the old large TMs. Used only on a few items in the last few years of production in ERIE, PA. c.1956-57.

The 'large TM", be it the slant or block version, can be many different sizes and, in at least one case (No.0 skillet) is actually SMALLER than the small TM.

So, there you have it. Maybe a bit confusing at first but it all makes sense...sort of. Valuable reference: Book of Griswold and Wagner by Smith and Wafford (The Blue Book).
