Tim here is a link to some great info on dutch ovens your question is answered on page 9.
This is in pdf form and printable so load up the printer and you will have a valuable tool to put in the camper for reference where ever you are.

I use an 8 inch most of the time for the two of us. I have a 6 inch that I make a mini Mountain Man breakfast in. It's just perfect for that!
