I wasn't really planning on getting into this cast iron cooking thing, but I just got my first piece of cast iron cookware.
We went camping, and while setting up, found the fire still smoldering on the fire pit. Laying on the bars at the edge of the pit was a cast iron griddle. It was quite rusty and crusty.
I took it home, and a few minutes with a wire wheel cleaned it up pretty well. I'm in the process of seasoning it. I'll let you know how the pancakes turn out...

It was meant to be....that's why it happened...I remember as a kid in like 1962 we went camping to Crater Lake. Dad picked a site, I jumped out and was running around and lo and behold....I found like 10 perfect Matchbox cars sitting out in the dirt on the site, they were 35-50 cents ea. at the time. The real + is that they were mostly construction type equipment, as a kid, I was in heaven, 47 years later...still remember that! I'll bet that somewhere, someone is wondering where those went...well, they went to a very good home. Doug

Toasted cheese sammaches!!!!!!
The butter on the bread helps to season the iron.

The 50 year old 4-in-1 was left in a pop-up trailer that I bought.
The Compact Jr. came with a 3X10 gage, 25' extension cord.
I have an 1890s rocking chair that a friend thought I'd be insulted to take.
The frame for my next project is a trailer that they just wanted gone.

Funny how you find stuff, I had been wanting a wall mount CI bottle opener to mount in the galley to open "refreshments" at camp. Repops are plentiful, but I just had not ordered one yet. Then I found a good one in a box of junk (I mean "goodies") a guy gave me!!!
