Steve,

That should go in your living room as the main focus point. Truely awesome.

Awesome job Steve!!!!! It's just the coolest thing. Do you have plenty of wick on them? Might be tough to come by. Doug

Thanks everyone. I had a good time doing it. But what a dirty job. Stove restoration will be added to the list of jobs I don't want to make a career out of.
Gary, where it will go is still up in the air. Once my wife sees it I will let you know where it ends up. I'm hoping it will fit in the kitchen, the living room may be a push if you know what I mean!
As for cooking on it, I still need to find out what fuel it uses. Oil or kerosene. So I will continue trying to research the stove.
Doug, the wicks come out about 1/2". Somewhere in all the hunting I found a place that sold 3" wicks. Can't remember where it was now, but if I need them I'll search again.

Just a thought, you said it has a patent date on it, how about a patent number? You may be able to enlist the help of the USPTO (US Patent and Trademark Office) Not sure how far back they keep records. The patent may at least state what type of fuel it is designed for.

Hi DH , There is a patten year of 1881 and a Date of Nov 22, but that is all. I have really come up blank on finding info on this stove. Several emails to stove dealers and even the National stove association have gone unanswered. The best shot I have is that it could be made by the Hibbard, Spenser & Bartlett Company of Chicago. I did a search of the company through the Chicago Library and Historical Society with no hits. There was a full catalog of the company shown on an independent website. They did make stoves but That part of the catalog was not included. The company is very old. It was burned out in the Chicago Fire and re built again. It made all kinds of things into the 50's when it was bought out by True Value. I will keep trying.

Thanks Kirkman! I just picked up another small stove today. I'll post it soon.
