I made some bacon and eggs on a Lodge griddle last weekend (on a grill

). That experience led me to try out CW's $60.00 set.
It arrived 3 days later!
I was up till 1 am reading all I could about seasoning here and on other sites. I can't wait to use my water heater stand, some coals, and a seasoned DO to make something!
(you all know you are enablers, don't you?)

WOW, you are in trouble.....You make bacon and eggs on a new griddle and the next thing you do is buy a whole set of cast iron......you will see that this stuff multiplies like crazy! Soon you will be building shelves to hold all your new iron! Have fun, there is so much out there.

I finally got around to seasoning the cast-ware. Looks good, so hopefully my first adventure will be a success. (I may be asking too much)
I will take pics and post my creation and the results. Wish me luck!!

You can't even make out the griddle in that picture that is included in the prices!
I have a CW Gear small saucepan. The surface was pretty rough, so I spent an hour or so sanding it smoother before I seasoned it. It is an inexpensive way to get into CI.

Cast iron is heavy-duty, more durable and retains heat longer than conventional cookware. Versatile set includes a 2 qt. Sauce Pan, 6 qt. Dutch Oven with bail handle,12" Skillet and pot lifter. The 20"L x 9"W Griddle is ribbed on one side for broiling, and smooth on the other side, for pancakes, eggs, and more. All pieces are easy-to-clean and can be stored and transported in their attractive wooden CW Gear box. Also included are carrying cases for each piece of cast iron cookware. Please remember to allow your cookware to fully cool before placing them into their carrying cases.

I bought it when shipping was $5.00. The UPS driver was hurting! "What they heck is is in this box?" Of course in this little sleepy area, I can get away with replying "a bomb".

The mid-winter potluck for Teardroppers of Oregon and Washington is going to feature aebleskivers, thanks to Glenn A. Can't wait! I have a pan, so I'll probably make some soon.

Do yourself a favor and cook something that has lots of fat in it like a roast or fry taters in you newly seasoned cast Iron. Seasoning them the first time is just the beginning. Cooking fatty foods just makes the seasoning better. If you cook stuff with lots of sugar it may stick and you scrub your newly seasoning off. If you cook tomatoes they have lots of acid and will eat away at new seasoning. But what ever you cook have a good time.

I still haven't used all of the set yet. Just the DO and the griddle. I use them every Saturday and Sunday morning for breakfast.
I am practicing for next camping season with lots of bacon and sausage grease! After a month (I suppose 8 meals), I haven't had anything stick on me yet.
