So im taking the new waffle dogger camping for the first time next week. i plan on making waffle dogs for breakfast and lunch. I have made some with breakfast sausage at home on the stove. I got the cornbread mix and i wanted to know if there is any variation from the mix that i should be doing for the dogger. i also want to know if I should be doing anything special because it is on the camp stove. thanks

Try waffle mix.

Make sure iron is hot and it helps to use Pam spray.

I've made them on a Coleman stove and inside my trailer on the propane stove, both worked out the same. Never tried cornbread mix but I have bought some to experiment with. I used waffle and pancake mix. The key is not to overfill the iron. The mixes do rise somewhat while cooking. Also if using fruit don't mix it in the batter. Drop in the middle before cooking Don't ask me how I figured that one out. The irons can be a real mess to clean up after you burn stuff in them. Good luck and post about the cornbread mix worked if you use it.

I have done used the pancake batter mix and added oil. if no one here has tried to make corn bread corn dogs i will report how it goes. Fruit is a great idea I was thinking of using some home made cherry jam and some cream cheese in the middle. It could get messy but how bad could it be.

Please do let us know how the cornbread mix does, I've been wondering,too! If you try the jam, be sure the batter has started to bake before you add it and remaining batter. If it seeps through, it's messy!

Cherry jam and some cream cheese sound really good. Peanut butter and jelly were good also. I put the peanut butter in a sandwich bag and cut off a corner and used that to squeeze into the waffle dog, it worked pretty good.

If you are using corn bread mix and a hot dog...get the 10 count dogs...the larger ones won't fit.
