Cave Camp gathering

Well....I'd imagine that most people are home by now, hope you all arrived safely. I have to say that I think it was one of the most enjoyable gatherings I've been to. Not real large...only 12 tears and real impromptu/laid back. I got to take a nap or 2, the temps were great, nice and cool at night making for an early morning campfire desirable. Kevin and I found a new alarm for Grant! Didn't even have to load up the coolers in the truck at night...no raccoons Joanne! and (guaranteed catch) fishing!

Waffles aplenty...the pumpkin ones were great!... as well as Mt. Man breakfast provided by Kevin and ala carte items by lots of others Sun AM.. lots of DO eats and fried chicken on Sat. night, as well as an wonderful array of snacks. What was cool was it was no reservations and we all were able to be together, doubled up in a bunch of sites. 12 tears....11 dogs....it was a "doggone" good time....1 RV with a generator, and 1 post that I tripped over about 10 times in the dark...

Leo and I really struggled with wanting to attend this one or staying home and working on the tear...we have a JR High Youth Group campout near Drakesbad next weekend sooo..we decided to put in some time on the build. Sounds like we missed a good time ...we're looking forward to hanging out in the future.

On the other hand...we made good progress!!

thanks to all fellow "cave campers " for being part of a relaxed, laid back weekend. great people, good food, and no organization. When something needed done someone just did it.
For you that couldn't make it you missed the solving of most the world problems, the planning of the first atomic powered teardrop , (not really) and one heck of a good B.S. session around the campfire. but if I told you all about it ... well you just had to be there. Maybe you will next time ??

THE VOLCANIC LEGACY.....First time for me to go to the Lassen Area. Having taught about the regions of California for decades, it was great to finally go see an area I've learned about but had never visited. The Subway Cave was awesome! I love to explore caves and this was one of the best tunnels I've ever seen.
Overall:
The weather was hot, the creek was cold, and the combination was just right.
I enjoyed all the good food and testing out three new recipes on the group.
Thanks to all who attended and made it such a fun gathering.

Not to hijack, but if you likes Subway, you really need to get up to Lava Beds National Monument.

It's up near Tule Lake, you will love it. And if you get lucky, camp site #6 will be open. The view is to die for. #5 isn't bad either.

I haven't forgotten my Outback teardrop dream and you'all who've been so nice. Still thinking and planning. I guess just being a little .
Having financial issues with keeping the LC on the road( gas, tires, body damage) so I imagine I'll lurk and post a bit more on the TD site.
I haven't forgotten...don't worry.
