OK it is Cave campground. at the junction of highway 44 and 89. We will try and be in site 25. Just look for the cute teardrop! We will arrive on Firday Sept 5th and stay until Sunday. Hope to see a lot of you there!

It was $16
The showers are 1/2 mile down the road at the cafe! We used them before and they are fine.
Plan on walking through the subway cave across the street. it is really neat to turn off the flashlights! complete darkness

This is Hat Creek which runs through the campground and is stocked twice a week with trout. It is a VERY FAST MOVING creek. They have built fishing decks that you can sit and fish from or just off the bank.
This gathering will be super kicked back. No time for reservations. Just show up and pick a site. As always will get together for dinner on Saturday night. Very flat area good for bicycles.

Eunice...I checked it out in my camping guide...since there are no reservations, (I know this might be tough to answer) but was wondering if you had an idea of how crowded it might be. Did you talk to a ranger or someone like the campground host to get some feel for how it fills up on a weekend at that time of year? I think school is back in session then and it is at 4K feet in elevation so it might be an open campground. Might be helpful to figure out what day to leave on and arrange work schedules. I'm busy rounding up some of us El Dorado county teardroppers to make the trek. Sounds like a great location! Fishing, volcanic geology to explore nice and cool....and it's camping! This will be like pulling a rabbit out of a hat for me. We are having a major function with 7 other fabric stores that weekend. Doug

It was very busy last Friday night! Spoke to people at the cafe and also Rim Rock Resort. They thought the campground would not be very busy in Sept. most school vacations over by then. All we can do is hope for the best since it is a fishing spot. There are several campgrounds close but hopefully we can all be together. Kenny and I will leave Friday morning if not Thursday night. We have been there 3 times now and have always been able to stay at the Cave campground.

John and Linda sure wish you would change your minds and come down. Love having you at JSC gatherings!

Bring a GOOD flashlight to walk through the lava tunnel with. I am not kidding when I say it is dark in there

Just wanted to bump this thread. Mike A and I are going to be there on Thurs. Who else is planning on getting there on thurs? Who is going to get there on Fri. and do you want us to save spaces? Inquiring minds need to know. If we have a chance, do people want us to get spaces that are next to each other....any one have any preferences? Doug
