I have much enjoyed all of your postings about your TD builds. I have decided on a build myself and I am asking TONS of questions around here...i am sure Mary K will be tired of me by then end of this! I am truly inspired by the number of women who chose to build their own TD no matter what anyone else says! I am very excited to actually get started in all of this. I will need to wait until I have the funds to get the journey going but i am already having a blast dreaming and sketching for the future!

Hello Rh
Welcome to the thread.
Yup I'm in the same boat as you are in at the rate I'm going I might have something done by 2012.

Now I'm just dreaming and scheming.

I'm buying little things here and there untill I can buy the big stuff.

Have Fun

Welcome Aboard!

You picked a great forum to get lots of ideas and information from. These ladies (and guys) are so helpful and friendly. I've only seen 1 so far that was chick-built and that was MaryK's and it's beautiful. I've seen quite a few the guys built and they were awesome. I envy MK's hatch...it's so easy to lift and lightweight. Mine weighs as much as the Teardrop!

You'll have just as much fun decorating and filling "her" up with stuff. Have fun and oh, take lots of pics when you start or Miriam (Aunti M) will give you the evil eye. :)

Man! I've been away for 3 weeks and had to go back 4 pages to catch up!

Welcome Rh! (or is there another name you want to be addressed as?)

Anymore sleep outs, Gaelen? Glad your getting to have some fun.

Our fair was the end of July. Keep in mind, we have a small fair, a very small fair, ok, make that a very, very, tiny, small fair. I'm on our fair board, and we're trying to grow our open class, so I went through the house with a fine toothed comb looking for entries. The Turtle got entered and took grand champion in hobbies. Image
I don't know who the judges were, but I'm pretty sure they know who brought it in :D kinda hard to hide an entry that has to be towed...and then I did mention it on the radio the day before...I was told it scored high enough on originality to compensate for its imperfections...Hope they weren't just being nice to me at the expense of someone else. It was great fun, though. I met a lot of neighbors who were watching the build on the sly.

Straight from Fair, I took a tear less trip to Indiana to see my sister, then across to Wisconsin to see cousins and an Aunt. Had a great time and just got home Monday. Playing catch up now.

WOOOO HOOO! A 1st place Prize! The grand champion. What fun, I don't know that I would have thought to enter. Next year a dutch oven cooking class could be held.

Way to go Sam! And a great tear ambassador. You let so many (well, so
tiny" many) get exposed to a fun new possibility.

It was great fun. I think I got the ribbon strictly on having the nerve to enter, to be completely honest, but it seemed a teardrop is exactly what should be in a fair, it's something homemade, not perfect, that people find interesting.

My friend visited a former exchange student of his in Taiwan recently. I forgot to show off what he brought back.

Now Sam, thou shalt not put down the Turtle. It is beautiful and hand made. Gotta get all these together some day.

AS for the "evil eye" I am working on it. 8) My grandchildren say "WHADIDO" when I give them the eye. Course they are teenagers and always thinking of something to get into or out of. 8)

Sam
Congratulations on your win. I think you should paint a blue ribbon on the side of the Turtle so that everywhere you go, people will know she is a champion.

Congrats Sam!!! WOW A Blue Ribbon and all. Feels Good Don't it??

Becca, thank you for the kind words up there. Your Teardrop Rocks BTW. There is so much room and all the amenities you have added. First time I visited it at the camp ground I felt like I was home. You got to help me warm up my TD like yours.

Ya know those Vintage Tin signs you have? I found some like them, but as small refrigerator magnets. I was going to stick them on the hatch like yours. I got like 12 of them.

This is my favorite one

I should give this one to Steve C. ;)

Congrats Sam on the blue ribbon winning Turtle Teardrop. :applause: :P
I Bet your awsome blanket chest storage area in the front end is what won every one over. Thats my favorite part of the Turtle.

I love those signs. Going to put some of that on my hatch. Sort of like decoupage.

MK I've wanted to see your Crow's Nest and just discovered you'll be right down the road at LCGIII. Can't wait to see real tears off the lot and in use!
