I started out camping, as an adult, with friends. But they did not want to go as often as I do so started making my own schedule and if others wanted to join, fine. If not, fine.
I've since found that camping solo with a dog and a teardrop at a popular campground does not equate to camping alone. For starters, I'm never alone with my pup along. And dogs and teardrops are people magnets so as you found, you meet all kinds of peops. And that's mostly great.
I have enough alone time to read books and write and more than enough social time with fellow campers.
There's much to be said for solo travel.
