Cathy,
My prayers go out to your son and the others that were injured. What a horrible thing to experience.

Congratulations, Becca!! I have three grandsons...it's even better being a granny then I ever imagined! We just bought the Sports suv tent from Costco so they can join us camping in the tear...we've got our waffle iron...we're anxious to start some new family traditions!

Just a quick update as these days I'm busy sewing my daughter's wedding dress. :SH

The first part which will go between the lining & the dress, which is sort of like a "petticoat", is ready for final fitting. It has all the boning & the waist stay that keeps a strapless dress up & the full netting skirt at the bottom to help keep the dress out at the bottom.

Tomorrow I start cutting the fabric for the dress. The prep work is the most time consuming. With white fabric I must be very careful how fabric is marked because there can't be anything that will show in the end. Most of my markings are with thread that can be removed after permanent sewing. The petticoat marking took forever since I needed lines where the 3 layers of netting were to be sewed, where the boning casings, 13 of them, were to be sewed, the waist stay placement & certain construction areas. :?

Here's a picture of the dress innerlining - "petticoat"

My husband & son are off visiting for about the next 5 day and I have the house to myself, so hopefully in that time I can get the dress ready for the final fitting. That means everything done except the back seam & back zipper, hem & finished at neckline. I still have the lining to cut & sew as well. Before I finish the back I want my daughter to put it on to make sure there aren't any minor adjustments in dress as it has been a few months since she tried it on & it is very fitted.
Martha ;)

My son Dusty and his wife Jamie announced tonight that they are expecting a little baby in January 2010. I am just over the moon with excitement! We weren't expecting them to try for another couple of years so this was such a surprise. I have been saving so much love for a grandbaby (or two) for so long that he/she will get sick of me. :)

Okay I'm BAD..... really really BAD!!! I'm sorry I haven't posted much lately, but I do read the board almost daily!!!!

As most of you know, I quit my job last July to take the trip west with Brandie (my grandaughter). Well, 3 weeks, 3300 miles and visits with my teardrop family all the way to IRG and back was SOOOOOOO worth it! BUT!!!!! Little did I know then that the economy was going to TANK! I had anticipated going back to work in the fall, and then did a really hard push after the holidays...... I couldn't get a job! I have NEVER had a problem getting work, but for every position in the Denver metro area there were 500-1000 applicants! That gets pretty depressing. And I have a habit of withdrawing from every one and everything when I am hit with the 'depression'..... thus no postings!

I AM FINE! I interviewed 6-7 weeks ago, took the pre-employment testing and UA last week, and was offered a position today. Not a job in my field of accounting, or administrative asst.... but in security. It will pay about 2/3 what I was used to BUT it is a full time job, starting June 1.

Because of that I may or may not be able to go to ITG.... only time will tell!

Yes, Bruce did come by for 4 days last week, and yes I took him camping in MY Rocky Mountains. He had been at Sam's (in MT) and Shelly's (in ND) on his way here. He said both the gals showed him a great time and he enjoyed catching up with them. I cooked and cooked for him here, and enjoyed his company.

I had an email from Shelly today, she's fine but working lots of long hours getting ready for a BIG inspection. the USAF is keeping her busy!

Becca.... we're still here, thanks for the concern and heads up! and Congrat's on the baby! I recommend grandparentdom!!!!

Martha.... loved your daughter's artwork, your house and the progress on the wedding dress. You are a very talented woman.

Thinking of you all and miss the correspondence but do continue to read the thread and enjoy sharing all the ups and down of 'my' teardrop family!

Oh wow! You have done a really good job with the boning. I only did that once and it was unlined :?

Take time to rest too. The last week of the wedding will take all of your energy.

Pam,

Glad to hear that you are OK and that you found work. The good thing is that now that you have work you can keep hunting for your next accounting job.

I certainly understand about withdrawing. I went through a number of years where I suffered frequent bouts of depression of various intensities. I also withdrew for extended periods. Thankfully I've gotten past most of that now.

I'll say prayers for you that things continue to get better. :worship:

See you down the road!!

Hugs,
Joanne

Thanks for the concern y'all...about midnite on March 27th my son had chased off some "kids" who were vandalizing the cars. About 15 minutes later they "came back with 3 carloads of guys, 15-20, with baseball bats, 2x4's...and knives. They smashed the windshields in the cars and then started on my son and his wife and friends. Dave and one other were stabbed repeatedly and ended up in the hospital...another had his face broke by a bat and needed facial reconstruction.

Very scary night... like a good son, Dave called me from his cellphone...but he was laying on the ground...incoherent...and after he told me he'd been stabbed...he dropped the phone and it went dead! We called 911 and made sure an ambulance was on it's way and headed over. It was sooooo scary! When we got there he was laying in a pool of blood! He was stabbed five times and had a punctured lung...but will be OK. Because there was a real risk of continued retaliation they didn't go home...but stayed here with us for a month!! until they found a new place.

Staples are out...he's doing some counseling for PTSD. They've caught 7-10 teenagers! but who know what will actually happen. Craziness, huh! We feel so blessed that no one was more seriously or permanently hurt!

I glad he is doing better. I've been praying for him since you mentioned it in another thread. :worship:
