Yep...summer seems like it is almost over. Finally getting out to go camping this weekend. Can't believe it's my first trip of the summer.

I definitely need a project to keep busy over the winter and am pretty much settled on building another tear. I'm getting a profile pattern from Grant :applause: and am going to look into local welders to get a frame built. I'll post pics once I get started.

I just love this forum. Not only is there the vast resources for such a project, but so much support during the process.

mandy wrote:I went camping this weekend with our church girls group. It was a last minet thing, but I'm glad I went. They needed someone who knew how to camp and teach the girls how to pitch a tent, cook over the fire and how to make a black forest cake in a dutch oven. I had so much fun teaching them. Here is some pics of the trip.

The weather was rainy and we were worried that the camp out would be rained out. look what we were headed to.

They had 2 tents that they rented. Neither of them had any instructions. I had them help me put one tent up and then let them put up the other. They did a great job. :applause:

After we had lunch, Hotdogs over the campfire Yum. We went for a two and a half hour hike. :sweaty:

We had a great time and the girls want to do it again.

Awesome pictures Mandy. You did good getting a bunch of girls out of the city. :applause:  The world needs more outdoors women to set an example for the next generation. :applause:

Anyone else gone camping recently? Haven't heard many stories from the ladies lately.

I have gone camping the last two weekends. I've just been bad about taking pictures. I'll get some next time to post...going again in two weeks. It is just absolutely beautiful here in North Dakota this time of year.

I camped at Lake Sakakawea State Park and hiked along the lake with my dog Trance. So pretty. Some friends of mine bought a 23' travel trailer and I've introduced them to world of dutch oven cooking. They love having my galley outside to work at when preparing meals since theirs is all inside.

More to come in a few weeks! Get out there and camp!

This is one of my favorite features of a TD (even though I don't own one). I'm only putting a fridge in the TT I'm rebuilding because I love cooking outdoors when camping.

Summer is nearly over but here in Florida that's when the nice weather starts. :applause: Summers are just miserable here.

I am off in a few hours to Lake Metigoshe up near the border of Canada in North Dakota. The weather might be a little wet on Friday, but the rest of the weekend is supposed to be beautiful. :applause: :applause:

I'm bringing back pictures this time I promise Auntie M!

Have fun Shelly! And all you other ladies too. I need lots of pictures to drool over since it looks like I am not going out this year or at least for a few months. Should be getting too cold by then.......

Really I am glad to be able to help my family and try to not begrudge the loss of fishing time....

camping this summer

Postby curiouserand » Sat Sep 12, 2009 2:44 pm

In July my son and I did a loop through the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. I met another teardropper at the campground who told me about this TT nT site...heading off to Austin, Nevada for the Hickison Petroglyphs gathering next week and I can hardly wait...it's been a long summer. My tear has been to Yosemite, Sequoia, Death Valley, White Sands, Zion and numerous other campgrounds but never with other teardroppers! It would be fun to plan a lady teardropper gathering...somewhere central-ish?? I am listed as a builder, but that is very wrong...I am just a teardrop fan. No garage or workshop, not to mention, no skills :)

Image to the playground. The Teardrop builder is a forum thing and is based on post count. Sounds like you are having a bunch of fun so far. You will really have a blast with our groups

I'll see you up in Austin! I'm heading out on Tuesday and am going to be stopping to check out some of the old mining towns along the way. I've driven through Goldfield so many times and always wanted to stop and take pictures, but was always on a tight schedule. This time I'm stopping. I think the gathering is going to be a good one. The first one was great and this one looks bigger and better. I think there are going to be at least 5 of us from Vegas. That's a pretty good turnout.
