hello ladies. In case you have missed it in the Jefferson State section. Kenny and I are goin snow camping over New Years. I am so excited. I need to experience this for Boy Scouts.
Scouters are teasing me that I am cheating because of the trailer instead of building an igloo. maybe next time

Haven't dropped in to say hello in a bit.

Postby Siouxgirl2 » Wed Dec 30, 2009 12:16 pm

Hello Ladies,

I have been swamped with my daughter's school gatherings Christmas/Holiday shows and company and haven't dropped in to say hello. Christmas is over and I have formally built my build workbench.

My husband bought me a Craftsman toolbox for Christmas to keep my tools in but decided he didn't want me to use his shop because he's afraid I'll take it over so I spent the holiday moving stuff out of the way in our home garage and am building there. It's a tight fit but doable.

I guess getting the pattern going is the next step. Just thought I'd post an update and wish you all a Happy New Year. We will be in Laughlin at a family reunion on my Father-In-Law's side so I'm trying to get a little done before we go.

We spent New Year's eve night in the teardrop. We were in Galveston and thought the sea fog was going to be bad. We parked on the grass in front of our friends house-- our friends warned us that we could get towed per HOA rules. Rules, we don' need no rules, right? We crawled in about 1:30 am, wind really whipping around and cold. No electric, but we had the 4 legged heater under the covers. Things were fine until the wind shook the td and the Mardi Gras beads left over from Crystal Beach parade started to rattle. Oh. no - are the tow truck drivers hooking up? Ok, everythings fine no truck. Back to sleep and husby has a night call. Whap, the wind whips the door and bends the door hinges. Now there is a big gap around the door letting lots of wind in. Dog is comfy under the covers and back to sleep. Oh no, the dog is panting and won't come out from under the covers. So I pull the covers off her and she cools off. Thank goodness it was a pretty sunrise after the Blue Moon Lunar eclipse on New Years eve.

BTW, I'm going to be a grandmother next September! Whoopeee!

Marilyn

ps - driving home a guy pulls up along side at a stop light and asks if the trailer was for dogs, lol - no we sleep in it!

Miriam I found GREAT snow boots for Kenny and myself on Ebay. They tie at the ankle and also on the calf. They have removable insulation. We both were very happy with them.
Ebay is also where I got both of us snow pants. Kenny never wore his but mine kept me nice and toasty. I love Ebay

Good point Miriam!! The great news is that he's letting me get tools. I think he has high hopes that he is going to inherit them or that he will be able to use mine on his future kit airplane build. ;-)

We have the new workbench built. Nice and large 7' x 13'. I have profile pattern cut. Now I'm on hold until I get windows and AC and accessories to mark for framing. I notice hubby seems to be enjoying this process but he is now back in Alaska as of yesterday. I think he is feeling a little invested in it now because he is giving input and told me that I could go get a biscuit joiner this weekend. I realize I won't be closed in before it gets hot. I was hopeful but it doesn't look like it's happening. The garage needs an air conditioner and insulation as it's like a little oven in AZ.

I hope you all had a wonderful New Year.

:( Just wondering why the passenger door on my shinny new car doesn't close right!

Really I am hibernating till the nights get to fifty degrees.  :)

Nissan Sentra---again. I really love the car but the door needs a slam to close it! I guess I will take it in.......oh and the color is platinum. 8) Tow rate is only 1000# though. Not really going to do a TD unless I build Andrew's Pico...

Miriam:

Before you take it to the dealer, try cracking the window open and then close the door. If the door closes okay with the window slightly open, you'll know it is cabin pressure issue and not the door itself. ...Just a thought.
