Brenda,
What beautiiful piecing. Love the fabrics. Red and tan (even darker) is on the list of my favorite quilt combos. Congratulations!

Martha,

Love your baby quilt. You must be excited to have finished it! It's REAL!

what a gorgeous dress. I love the back. (gee, i was shaped like that once... who'd thunk it)
a looonnnng time ago I had a partime job at SoFro, a big fabric chain. Endless moms and girls came in and wanted a whole wedding party of fabric. But wanted to spend the least amount of money. So, we got out patterns and laid them out end to end to see how much shorter would account for height for a couple, ...oh wait.... but I want to change this and just this little thing over here. So how does that change the fabric amount.
Whew. Good thing I could handle math!. Nobody ever came back whining.

As a result I never sewed a wedding dress. ;) I admire what you have done greatly.

You ladies Rock! I have a lot of patience but not enough to make a quilt bigger than 5"'s wide. I just buy them and pretend I made it.

I've finally got the top of my teardrop quilt made. :woohoo:
I know I'm still a long ways from having a finished quilt, but the top was a lot of work. This is the quilt that got me into quilting.

Right now I'm thinking the quilting will be a mix of machine and hand quilting. How much hand quilting I'm not sure yet.

Anyway, my teardrop with its 1930's Ford wheels, fenders, taillights etc., it seemed only appropriate to use 1930's fabric with some teardrop motif included. (Teardrop is appliqued and embroidered like my curtains.)

I have 6 main 18" squares made up of 6" squares. Probably can't totally tell by the main picture, but I have a variety of fabrics for the blue, yellow, green & red in the squares with the contrast coloring. Part of the fun with 30's is that they do a lot of mixing of fabrics.

That's really pretty Martha. I like Tvicky's too. You ladies rock! :applause:

I just don't think I would have the patience (and I've got lots) to do a quilt. I get confused just looking at Martha's. I don't know how you ladies make it look so easy. I'll stick with sewing a basic pillow.

Martha, that quilt is just fantastic. I wanted to do a TD quilt but just haven't had the courage to try it yet. I love it.

Well, in many ways it is sort of like building a teardrop....one step at a time working with a plan. If you break it down into little parts it's not so hard. For me working with fabric and sewing machines is easier than working with all the power tools and plywood and the such. Probably why I was the helper. In many ways I still look at our teardrop and think "Wow, we built it!" I find a great deal of satisfaction in creating things and being able to say "I made that!" Amazing what can be done one step at a time. Taking quilting classes through adult ed didn't hurt either.
Martha ;)

Beautiful work everyone! (guys and gals) I'm trying to learn to quilt but haven't had much time recently. (Also my brother is now living in the room that my machine is in.)

Hopefully I'll make some time to work on my quilt and get it wrapped up.

Here's my latest...got these pics from my quilter on it. Now all I need to do is get the binding done. Carla is an awesome quilter and incredibly creative. I just give it to her and tell her to do what you want...I'm always happy with the results and it's all freehand work, no pantograph or stencils. Sorry the quilter has deleted it from her blog...she's onto other things now. Doug
