E, I especially like 'pine cone' ...

I got my non-disposable stuff at the Dollar Store, to complete the set of sporks I had in my camping box. The new stuff is stainless with clear acrylic handles that have polka-dots in the same colors as my 'vintage' Tupperware dishes. Seems so wild to me that something from the late 70s/early 80s is considered 'vintage.'

yeah but the creepy thing is.. 70's started 37 years ago!!!!

when i had platform shoes that were so cool my mom hated them, said she had them when she was young. ?
well, now they are popular yet *again* as if this is new. welllllllp, it ain't :) :) :) :)

need to go to the dollar store.. there is one near us but since i've never been to them i never think of going! that has to be perfect for some of the last things i'm looking for.

i saw some flatware that had some kind of acrylic or plastic or something handle and they had nice colors and i loved them. but they just weren't *quite* sturdy enough for mr. robert so.. . they pine cones are *heavy* and the larger size. so....

can't wait to see it all!

speaking of 'camp kitchens' and 'camp cupboards', I found this yesterday when I was searching on the 'net. Because of its height, I'll have to modify the narrow top shelf in my camper, but it's one idea I've been considering for the back wall of the galley...facing in to the sleeping compartment, suspended from a tension closet pole rod that goes the width of the camper...and completely collapsible/removeable on the days when I need the camper to be a cargo mover.

http://www.outlawcamping.com/store-products-Tents--Shelters-Floor-Savers--Gear-Lofts-110315-Camping-Closet-_23347016.html

However, I may not need that much or that kind of 'hanging storage.'
Yesterday I picked up a different cot at a garage sale, heavier and stronger and taller than the one I have. Going to 'visit' the camper and check it out--if it works as it should, I'll have room for about 13 inches of under-cot storage, and a full-length couch and/or bed!

I've found the perfect container for storing utensils. Its the blue plastic Lay's containers. They are the right size for 4-place settings, and are easy to transport whatever you need to the table.

gaelen, that little hanging closet is great! we don't have anyway we could use that :( . frankly, jeans, tshirts, underwear, jackets... doesn't take up much room. jeans a big but if i'm camping they don't get changed every day.

cathy, what are Lay's containers? is that Lay's like Frito-Lay? i'm thinking maybe you mean something like a round pringles can?

thanks guys! or gals!

elizabeth

Could be Frito Lay's, not sure, they had cheese snacks in them originally. They are blue plastic with a yellow lid, just the right length for silverware.

oh that sounds like a great way to deal with silverware. especially since i have lots of trouble dropping things! mmmm, just love that grit in my potato salad. puts hair on the chest! :)

DRAWER - i just saw a great drawer on qvc.com LIVE. it is made for a refrigerator but also was shown used in a cupboard. great for little places that could use drawers.. economy on size.

was going to put in a picture of it but can't even see the option on this page?? (or "duh")

Item Number K7177
Sliding Melamine Fridge Drawer

if you have any interest you can find entering this item number or description on qvc.com search.

elizabeth (and thanks for the great idea for the silverware!)

Cathy:
I am not sure if this would work in your TD but I use a 3 drawer Sterlite container to keep my utensils, batteries and other needs in and it works great. I also use 3 single drawer Sterlite containers from Wal Mart for my dinnerware, one for all the pots/pans and dishtowels and the other for extension cords. They work great for what I needed since I don't want to fork out the $$ for built in cabinets just yet.

Lynn:
Yes, my 10x10 EasyUp did leak but I think it was because it had rained for so long. But, it was the new EasyUp from Wal Mart that leaked and has since been returned. I am going to buy several cans of Scotch Guard and spray the hell out of my old one (that one didn't leak - go figure). Also, Home Depot just had their 12x12 Easy Up's on sale for $49.95 so I got one of those. I think I will spray it before I use it for the safe side. Oh, your faux bookshelf cabinet front looks great! Good job girl! Wish I could join you guys in Arcadia but that weekend we have friends from Louisiana visiting. Have a great time!

MK:
I still haven't taken a photo of my hinge. It seems to rain almost everyday when I get home so I haven't had a chance to get a photo. But, I read where someone else used rubber over their hinge and I think that may be the cheapest, easiest option for me. First, if I have to take that galley lid off, I will need a flippin' crane to lift it because it is ridiculously heavy. So, anyone know where I can purchase the rubber and do I just screw it to overlap the hinge and then seal with something?? I need all the expert (fake it) answers I can get ladies and gents.

Well, 30 years of marriage has come and gone over the weekend and no diamonds appeared on my hand...heck, nothing appeared at all, not even camping goodies. But that's ok cause I went to Camping World and just picked up a couple of goodies. Bought a couple more nostalgic metal signs for the galley lid, a wine glass rack (very small white metal one for the lid) to be used only when set up at campsite and some odds and ends. I didn't go to Wal Mart not once this long weekend which shocks even me! I am hoping it won't rain today so I can "play" in my TD when I get home.

Hello,
What did you do this Holiday weekend? We worked on the tear. We were going to take out the kitchen and replace it, but the way the teardrop had been built it was part of the structure. So we had to re-do the kitchen around what was there and of coarse it took much longer. It took 4 weekends. We also design a side tent and put that together. We took out the vent and went to replace it, but the new one does not fit. So back to the store we go. The RV store was closed (Mon.). We still have few more things to check off our list before S.L.O. Gathering.

Chris

P.S. Home Depot drives me crazy :?

I went to the flea market on Saturday and found a projector that projects small object and pictures on the wall that you can trace. I was thinking that I could enlarge a TD profile on my wall and check for fit even before I cut the first card board template. How cool is that?

Hey girlfriends!!! No camping this weekend, but I did open the hatch and the windows for a little airing out. Put in my new stainless campstove and found out my space is running out !!!

I've been using a Sterlite plastic three drawer thingy for my utensils , wine opener, and gadgets, etc and kept saying it would be temporary but now I don't know. I still am thinking of putting a microwave in.

Bought a little sparkle for my cabin roof but that will have to get put on later. I should've done some painting but now there's a lot of humidity and some rain predicted.

I have three , maybe four more camping trips planned for this year !!!
WHOO HOO !!!! Let's go campin !!!
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

I spent the long weekend working on the tear. I got the wheel wells built, the marmoleum floor installed, and all of the bulkheads built! I'll post pics tonight. I love the fact that the build is going faster now, and it is really starting to look like a tear!!!

We worked on the Inkwell. Putting in some shelving to the upper cabinet that the faux bookshelf goes over. We also got some spackle up to prepare for paint.

Here's the pic
Image

We also went down to my parent's to pick up a cabinet door that my dad had fixed. We discovered the router, we purchased a couple weeks ago, the housing was broken, major bummer. We think we've come up with the right hinges for the faux Victorian Secretary desk that we're going to build.

A little was done but at this point it is all very little steps.
