Amy:

Beautiful work! I love the detail you put on the side of the TD. Not sure exactly how you did that but it looks fantastic. I also noticed how steep your entry way is when you had a runaway TD. You are lucky you didn't get hurt or smash up your baby.
Keep the pics coming - it's looking good. :beautiful:

Making some progress...I'm going for the "Highly original, poorly built model" I was very conscience of passing traffic at this stage:

Shortly thereafter, it looked like this:

Still have a ways to go. I'm extremely unsteady with the router and will be very happy when I get the edging on and covering my warbles. Also, have spent many hours with the hurricane hinge in hand and a puzzled look on my face. Del posted pics, though, and I THINK I'm ready to try. Meanwhile, I went to the store looking for a $10 or $15 repair kit for my Coleman stove and found this for $20:

Chances of this one working are much better, so I picked it up. I've noticed shopping for the tear is much more enjoyable than the weekly shopping trip. I was actually delighted to find a box of Kleenex with a turtle on it the other day. Honestly can't remember ever being excited about Kleenex before...

Sam:

Your "turtle" is looking good. Did you use plastic plates to create the design? Are you going with turtle decor and gadgets? That is a cute idea.

Rebecca: Yes, I used the paper plates just to help me with the spacing. There's a bit more to do, but... You wouldn't believe how few things there are with turtles on them. Never realized it before.

Mandy~
Yay! Smartest move you can make.... My friend Shelly built from them and my #2 will be built the same way.... My brother and I built the"Cherry Drop" and about a third of the way through, he threw away the crappy plans we had! That was an adventure!!!! But with over 8,000 miles in this last year, she seems to be road-worthy! ha!

Sam~
Looking so good!!!! I'll watch for turtle stuff.... you never know what 'the sisterhood' can find!!!! I am really enjoying following along on your build.... just wish you didn't live so far away!!!

Amy~
WOW! It is really coming along and looks great! Isn't it fun!!!

I hadn't posted for a little while and wanted to let you all know I am paying attention!!! I'm off to camp in the Rockies this weekend with Brandie.... Hope you are all enjoying your weekends!!!

Hi Sam,

Here are some possible turtles for your T.
Lamp
turtle lamp

Lightswitch plate (ebay sale ending soon)
turtle cover plate

Blue Turtle Hamper
clicky

Turtle Door Mat
clicky

Turtle Nut Bowl

There are teenage mutant ninja sheets but I'm guessing that isn't what you're looking for.

Anyway, I just did a search for turtles. Try it, you might get inspired.

Hey, thanks Lynn! I missed the closing bid time (or whatever you call it) and every one of those, but I have some great ideas now. Never thought of Ebay for some reason.

This may belong in the off topic section, but too bad. I'm posting it here. Last Wed. I decided to look into possibly hosting a foreign exchange student next semester...He moved in yesterday  I was thinking a girl and therefore bunk beds in my daughters room, and in January. I spent the weekend converting the closet in the utility room to a bedroom for me so he can have his own. My new bedroom is kinda like a teardrop; exactly as wide as a twin bed and 16 inches longer. I took out the bottom shelf to fit the bed, but kept all the upper ones where I have the TV and DVD player and plastic drawers for my dresser.ImageImage I got absolutely nothing done on my tear (which is going on it's maiden run Friday). I still need to 1) skin fenders and install 2) put wheels back on 3) finish door-needs stop and sealer 4) find out why hatch won't fully close and fix and 5) cut counters and install. Wish my luck.

Exchange Student

Postby daveleb55 » Mon Sep 10, 2007 11:30 am

Sam,

I decided to look into possibly hosting a foreign exchange student next semester...

I recently hosted an exchange teacher for a year from Japan. It was a wonderful experiance for both him and our family. Sometimes it is not the space but the journey! Great job on the conversion.

Enjoy the experiance. You will learn as much or more than the student!
