Miriam: Looks like you had a good time. You deserve it. I hope you chased away the cabin fever. Love the pics.

Hopefully we will get some great ideas to get started very soon. My husband and I are hooked wanting to start as soon as possible

Welcome to the forum!! :shake hands: How did your meeting go with your teardrop neighbors? Hope you have been inspired to start your new build soon! Can't wait to see pictures of your work in progress.

Unfortunatly our weekend got a little busier than expected and we did not have time to stop by to meet the teardrop neighbor :( We re-roofed our garage this weeked while the warm weather was around for a day. Although my husband is determined to get this project started! He was on the internet ever chance he got in between all our activities and work over the weekend to research and sketch out our soon to be tear. Both of us are very excited to start this project. We are still very much want to meet our neighbors so I think we will try and reschedule that. :)

Thanks all of you for the warm welcomes! :)

Very nice Aunti M. Mine is a 5'x10' and that extra foot does make a difference in sleeping comfort. I enjoyed your camping photos. It looks like you had a beautiful weekend for camping.

My turn!!!

Postby enigmak » Tue Mar 04, 2008 4:52 pm

My turn to build a teardrop. Last summer we got KP's ready fot ITG2 so this summer I hope to have mine ready to camp. KP says if all of you girls could do it, I can too, so he will only "help". :? But this way I will have one of my own so that I can join a gathering even if he can't get away. We cut a pattern out over the weekend, now we have to make a trip to the lumber yard to get the real stuff to cut. Not real sure how it's going to look yet. Will post some pictures as we go.

Wow Mandy, that was faster than I thought, since I sent them "book rate"! Very cool! You'll have a lot of reading there. ;) I have to tell you it was very hard to part with all those magazines, but we are trying to finish up remodeling the house and I was given a mandate.

On the update front- I am getting ready to start epoxying the roof now. I have half of the tongue box built, and the hatch is well on its way to getting coated with epoxy. Here are some of the latest pics, not including the skinned hatch (it is skinned on one side now) or the tongue box. I'll include shots of those this coming weekend.

Hatch frame, before skinning:

Fuse box and wiring in place (I did make some minor changes to the wiring after this pic):

Roof is insulated (did this a few weekends ago):

Roof is skinned:

I put the counter loosely in place to get an idea what it will look like:

So, now I am going to epoxy the roof before this weekend. Hopefully I can get the primer on the roof this coming weekend, but we'll see how things go. I only have one day this weekend to work on it, so I may not get as much done as I like.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Welcome Dana and Mrs. Rabbit!

Thanks for the pics Auntie M. I wanna go camping now!

Way to go Amy!

And Lynn, thanks for the afternoon's amusement. I've been entertaining myself with murder. Unfortunately, none of the very creative ways I've come up with involve a rose.

Way to go Amy! Can't wait to see it finished.

Dana, you can do it! And you have the benefit of having seen one done. 8)

Thanks girls! I am glad you liked the pictures. With me the cabin fever doesn't go away, just makes me want to go some more.

Mike, however, got his book finished and some rest so we are hoping for another nice day soon.

Looking good Amy...looking good. I really like your design on the outside. I have looked at how you did it several times...very cool.

Welcome Dana - let the maddness begin! You will have fun building it (I think) and even more fun decorating it. Get stumped, just ask away...there are lots of very good builders on this forum (except me, I didn't build, I bought - but I decorated my heart out).

Sam, how is the Turtle?

Alas, the Turtle hasn't been out of the garage since October. For one thing the garage door is frozen shut. This is a semi-permanent condition and I only have a total of about 7 inches clearance on each side, so working on it in the garage is out of the question. I have completed a lot of work on the house, though. If anyone ever needs to replace an old toilet that is bolted all the way through the floor with nasty corroded bolts and no room to manouver a bolt cutter, may I suggest a sledge hammer. I discovered over the weekend that it works nicely. Oh the joys of home ownership...

  Sam I used a dremal tool and some safety glasses. Kept breaking the cutting wheel and sending it flying. Sledge hammer sounds so much easier.

We need to get started on the house.

Amy: Your TD is looking fantastic.

Sam: A while back I had the same problem with removing a toilet and I started out like Miriam and ended up like you. I swear I was an accident I don't know how the hammer fell on the toilet bowl repeatedly? Hope the weather starts warming up for you soon.

Dana: Hello there.

Miriam: Hows the weather there?
