The depot looks great! I especially love the clock, it makes it look more authentic. Great job!

I am hoping the grey stucco finish will add even more to the look. Looks like rain next weekend , if so it will be an inside drywall week end. I really hope to get up on the roof and finish it and get the soffit and facia installed. I have the solar panels unpacked and ready to install as soon as the roof is fully tightened down. We have it sort of "tacked" in place at the moment. October 1st is roaring up on us and that is the one year anniversary of the start of this project. I was trying to be finished with the "construction" faze of the build by then, looks like we may dribble over a few weekends. I was still very happy with the giant leap of progress we made this weekend.

Found a sign maker and asked if she would do a couple custom pieces for me. This is the first one for the "Platform" (patio deck)

Well I supervised a couple of great guys while they installed a front porch roof for the landlady. I stoled some time during their work to go up the hill to the depot and install door trim stops and threshold. Finally have the locks in and can secure the saws and tools. I feel better now. I tried about 4 profiles for the stops before I found one I liked. (Yes I cut my own out of scrap wood ) I was also able to get my $45.00 Craigslist find a Larson storm door installed.

It's prettier now.....Image

Left the patina of the 1909 boxcar tongue and grove car siding and just poly semi gloss over it to protect it ! The experiment with the polar seal mixed with exterior latex paint and thickened with drywall compound for the stucco look went well but did not have the body I had hoped.

Well not a lick done this weekend rainy and wet and total lack of enthusiasm. I did spend a couple hours cleaning up the area and burning the smaller cut offs as weather would permit. The great news is it was city wide clean up weekend. That said I jumped out in front of the trash guys and went exploring. Well it paid off well, the Platform "patio" now has a nice patio table. It even gets better they are a woodworkers delight as they are heavy duty and built from 2x4's so I not only have new seating and a table I have a pattern to build even more and sell them on the flea market circuit.

Cost info updated above :

Well almost 8 hours on the roofing it is drip drop tight and weather permitting it will get a coat or two of polar seal next weekend. While I acted as ground man and passed up tools and materials as needed , I used my in between moments to install nailers and hang drywall inside. Hit yet another yard sale and snagged a very nice hardwood cherry desk topper it measured 48 x 48 x 12 deep.

Image

The dead space in front of the water tank was 14'' deep and 48 wide by 46 3/4 tall so with a minor trim at the base of 1 1/8' it fit hammer tight. It gives me two very nice storage cabinets and an area in the center that just may hold yet another zero clearance ventless propane heater. There was a companion single cabinet 24 wide by 4' tall that I am yet to decide what to do with. Both cabinets for $20.00 total. I am six pieces of soffit and 4 facia boards from being fully insulated and ready for zero weather when it comes.

Monday was a very light duty day . I almost got whipped putting on a storm door striker plate and the security wind chain. It is a long story and I won't go into it other than to say this 12 minute job took almost 45 minutes to get done. However , with my used $60.00 Larson storm door and $10.70 worth of hardware, it not latches , locks, and is protected from the wind.

Coating the roof of the depot to get ready to install the solar panels. Yep I ran out of the free high ridged roofing steel so I used a few sections of the corrugated steel left over from the land ladies tractor barn extension. This portion of the roof will be mostly hidden by the solar panels anyway. OH ! We finally broke $3,000.00 dollars this weekend.

Soffits were installed on Saturday but we did not get the facia boards completely done. The rain came in Sunday so my helper and I went inside and installed the missing drywall nailers and drywalled the sleeping loft end of the depot. The only areas now needing drywalled are the exposed two roof trusses and the pooch out areas. We will be mudding and decorating soon. The outside is about 3 hours from being completely done . Gonna drag out the camera today (Mon) and get some shots.
