There will be another angle come up. Perhaps some embarrassing press on " Big Government vs the average man ". Go for it Bob!

Well anyone who has listened to the entire track of the ballad of Alice's restaurant knows what I am about to refer to.

"Plaster tire tracks, hand drawn diagrams with circle and arrows, and a paragraph on the back.
And then officer Oppy looked at the judge and then looked at the judge's seeing eye dog and knew it was a true case of blind justice.

Well I feel a bit like officer Oppy

Had a prepared statement but was told to accept the terms offered me or open Pandora's box and any fine or other solution that pleases the court will be set upon me.

NOW DO YA REALLY WANT TO TAKE THIS TO TRIAL BOY?

I told the judge I understood his veiled threat and despite the hours of investigation and preparation I will simply fold my defense. I then symbolically folded my opening statement in half and agreed to move the home as weather permits but no later than 4/1/15.

He look rather aggravated at my statement but let me agree to the fine schedule and did wave all court costs (since the zoning commission had agreed to absorb them).

So I guess I will be moving the tiny house. I placed an ad in Craigslist looking for another piece of ground to buy on contract. Think I'll get the green light from the zoning folks wherever it is before jumping on this one though.

Sorry to hear that Bob seems bloody rediculous to me but that isn't surprising. At least you gave it the good fight and had your day in court, admire your tenacity plenty would have given up long ago

You gave it a try Bob. Nothing worse then looking back and wishing you had tried. Regret just eats at you. So now you have a little breathing room to make new plans.

Well decided to start throwing rocks this morning.

I have taken the trials and tribulations of a homeless man with a house he can't live in and a property that he can't live on and put it out to the forth estate. I have started contacting State and regional newspapers with the plight of a homeless man who has been fined and forced to remove his home from his land. Probably will not benefit me but perhaps some poor soul down the road may benefit from it with more lenient zoning laws yet to come.

If I suddenly come up missing it was probably the zoning zombies that got me ! :rofl2:

Careful Bob, you might find the only use for your land is to bury you on it.

I think that is a good plan. At least get your last shot at them!

The moral is, when you get a letter from the planning/zoning commission that denies the requested use of the camper you want to build and park and live in on your land-- don't go ahead with the project and hope it will work out. I am a Ham Radio operator and I rejected many a home, because I wasn't allowed to have an antenna tower. My city allows a tower up to 30ft tall. Which is the bare minimum, but way better than no tower. I think Missouri is pretty open as to an owner's land usage- at least it used to be.

Well it wasn't quite like that. I could have left it parked in the yard the day of the sherrif's sale of my home of 25 years and simply lost both of them.

As I had no other place to park the tiny house it went on my property. I have never slept a single night in the tiny house. It has not been used as a residence at the direction of the zoning folk while I applied for the variance. The variance application that cost $100.00 for the privledge of having them tell me NO! Now a $400 fine ! :x

I need to start me a county so I can make money the easy way !

Bob, the realtor/mortgage/insurance company triad won't make any money, if folks move to tiny houses- they are worried about that and have put up zoning barriers to prevent this trend from taking off.
I sent a copy of that letter ( x'd out personal info) you got in 2011, which stated nobody can live in an RV, except in a park zoned for RVs to a friend of mine near Kokomo, Indiana. He has a camper parked on a few acres next to his house- power pole, water and septic from a former mobile home. He allows the 29ft RV to be lived in from May to October by a caretaker/handyman. He has never been bothered by zoning or code enforcers, but then he has never been reported, ether. If a neighbor should complain, it is now obvious to him that he will have to stop using the camper as seasonal housing.
