Bill,

Congrats bud, we love ours and use it every camping trip! I have learned that the first batch on mine always sticks and comes out not quite right but everyone after is perfect, not sure if its just the iron isn't hot enough or me . We actually use the add water into the container, shake and pour mix(bisquik I believe) and when its done, reclean the container and the just buy a mix that uses water and refill! My favorite so far is to use blue berry muffing mix and strips of bacon we pre cook before we go camping!

Good luck and good Eats!!

Cliff

Independence Day Waffle Dogs! I had to work late, so just did Bisquick instead of Belgian. Two sausage links on a stick are just the right size (used the brown and serve). I then wrapped them with bacon and put them on the griddle on the back yard grill to cook. The wife said they were good but just wasn't as in to it as me. Made a few dogless waffle sticks with the rest of the batter.

Cliff, the trick I learned along time ago is "Hot pan, cold oil food won't stick" (From The Frugal Gourmet). Preheat the iron then spray the heck out of it. Even works with the regular waffle iron.

Happy Independence Day everyone!

Yumm. Welcome to the club. Someone will teach you the secret handshake at your next gathering.

Cliff,

Just tried Jiffy blueberry muffin mix w/bacon. Very tasty. I also used a cupcake pen (http://www.worldmarket.com/product/tovo ... earch&cx=0 ) for easy, no mess filling. BTW, World market caries the Golden Malted waffle mix ( you know, the stuff at every motel in the country). It's a bit pricey, but they are some of the best waffles around. I plan to use that for a Scout campout batch.

I just picked up some Carnation malt to dump into the waffles at this coming weeks camping...found a recipe on the web. I don't have a World Market near me...but I do like those Motel waffles! Doug

Doug,

How did the chocolate malt waffles turn out? I just used the Golden Malted mix this weekend and had great results. I also did up some dessert 'dogs using angel food cake and blue berries. There are now four members of my Scout troop that are going to begin the search for a waffle dog.

When I was at the Dam Gathering this spring running a pinewood race an angel ( a real angel) floated by me and gave me a chunk of a waffle dog creation that had cream cheese in it. I still think of it often. :applause: :applause:

Didn't do the whole chocolate thing...just regulars. I probably need more malt in them. I couldn't really taste it, they were good and I like them crispy, just need more malt. Doug
