Coleman Catalytic Heater NIB!

Postby Tomterrific » Mon Oct 28, 2019 10:46 pm

I wanted one of these for a while now. It turns out the closest one was 70 miles away, but it was NEW! I bought it and am happy but since it is a 1972 and never used, am I a criminal for wanting to fire it up? Still happy.

Others may differ with this opinion, but camping gear is meant to be used, not just stared at. Old Coleman stuff was built so well that unless you downright abuse it, just using it won't harm it, just gives it a nice patina....

Yep. Use it and enjoy it. That's what it was made for!

Ran across one similar to this at the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store today. It was a bit beat up but only $5. I didn’t buy it but maybe I’ll run by there Tuesday morning and see if it’s still there.

That brings back a memory! Boy Scout camp in Upstate NY. Rained all week. One of the adult leaders brought one of those to camp and we heated up an unoccupied wall tent and brought in all our clothes to dry. Think I can still smell it!

Of course I fired it up. It's just too neat not to run it.
