I Have a Question?

Postby Grumpeyyy » Fri Apr 03, 2009 6:55 am

Hi

I just got the lanterns that I bid on from Ebay over the weekend and they are great I'll post pictures as soon as I have a chance.

My question is I thought I read somewhere that all Coleman laterns have a date stamped in the bottom of the tank. 2 of the lanterns that I just got are a 242B and a 220 [not sure of letter its not stamped well]

They are both nickle tanks but I can't find any dates. How do ya find out how old they are.

They are all in petty good shape they just need gone over and fixed up a little. New seals on the pump and then see how they burn. The 242 needs a new glode the one that come with it has a crack in it.

Have a great day.

Gene
I was tired yesterday, I am tired again today, does that make me retired???????

Sometimes on the nickel tanks they can be tough to see. You may need to clean it up really well and do some light sanding on the bottom before it appears. I've got a 242B that I can't find the month on but can get the year. Here's the Coleman forum link to dating a lantern. Where the dates were placed and in what order the numbers are found in depends on the model and the year of mfg. Hope this helps. Doug
