Doug, I personally like the way it looks. But, the important thing is that you like how it looks, since you own it.

Besides, if someone gets bent out of shape because a camp stove is not painted it's original color, well, they may need to seek professional help.

What happens to the paint when heat hits it?

The Coleman stoves aren't painted in any sort of a heat resistant paint. I did use an engine enamel on my really old stove/oven combo however. I've checked temps with an IR thermometer and they typically don't get over 135, which is well within the paint range. However....and don't ask me how I know....but if you put too large of a pan on the stove and really crank up the heat, it will deflect too much heat into the stove body and that's what scorches them. Check it out...lots of them are scorched on E-bay and are usually factory paint on them. You just gotta use your head on what you're doing so as to not cook them. 425's will scorch easier than a 413, as it has a smaller box. I did manage to scorch a mint stove by too large of a pan and a load of chicken in it....but I can cook waffles on it for hours with no problem. Doug
