Our own little virtual museum...just an idea.

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Our own little virtual museum...just an idea.

There are lots of us that have all sorts of gas pressure stuff, lanterns, stoves, irons, jugs, coolers, stove stands, ovens etc....I was just thinking that we have seen so many really nice before and afters, that maybe we should start our own little photographic museum of items.

Just an idea, but I think people could post up pics of their stuff, and include the dates and anything special about the piece. IE...first instant light, last year for flat ended tank, a forum member donated parts etc... and any other info that might be useful for anyone who is wanting to get interested in this sort of thing.

It would not function as a discussion thread, but more of a resource thread, too much discussion would take away from the informational side of it, just my opinion. Sort of a Hall of Fame thing.

It would be a showcase for forum members efforts and as a photographic tour of different stuff. I know of another site, but this would include coolers and other oddities that they don't have...and this one is just for us, T&TTT members, after all...some of us have stuff that isn't on the Coleman site.

The advantage is that it would all be in one place, and made sticky so all the pics would be in one thread. I'm just sort of thinking that when Jeremy and I got going on all of this, there were very few of us...now our numbers have increased and lots of people have all sorts of fun stuff to show. It would be just pics of stuff that is finished and operating. Rebuild threads would still be separate, but finished pics could be posted in this one.

What do you think?....don't post any pics YET...just looking for some feedback. We'll start an official thread once we get some feedback and input as to how it ought to be done. Doug and Jeremy...(I took liberties and posted his name on it...I think he'd approve)

Sounds like a great idea to me Doug. Always fun to see what others have in their collection, and before and afters are often very inspiring. There's a wide array of camping items that could be included in it

I think we could include all sorts of vintage camping equipment...thing is...couldn't have a lot of discussion about it, just pics. Any discussion and it would turn into some sort of non ending creature. Doug

I agree, just keep it limited to the display posts. Thinking about it there is a ton of things that would fit into the catagory. We just tend to lean towards the Coleman stuff.

I like the idea of a T&TTT Gas Pressure Appliance and Camping Paraphernalia Museum Picture Thread... but people will have questions for others and the PM box limitations here are tight.

I propose a Picture Thread... where comments are to be held to a minimum... and a companion, Gas Pressure Appliance Museum Picture Question and Answer Thread for the posting of the inevitable quesitons and answers. It's not a perfect solution, but again, I too like Doug and Jeremy's idea of our very own gas pressure appliance and camping paraphernalia picture museum.

Great idea Doug, I would love it. As a beginner collector it gives us some info on what to look for and help identifying things we may have found. But with that said I think there should be a way to show other areas of camping items as well.

Perhaps a Stickey on the what to look for and what to look out for as well - when I started collecting i bought anything that was green no matter what shape it was in only to find out later that good deal wasn't so good when i had to have a generator, globe, and bail sent. Ya' know the things I'm talking 'bout - like excessively chipped ventilators, fakes, rusty founts and the such

That is a great idea! Maybe somehow break it into sections..... single mantle, double mantle, single stove, double, triple burners. Maybe Coleman, Sears, KampKook, Preway, etc. Would be easier to locate a specific item then.
Dobyman!
If you can't find it at a rummage sale..... you dont need it!
