found these today... Need help with F.S. Lantern

Postby whitefam5 » Thu Aug 19, 2010 6:19 pm

After searching thru some thick dust and dirt i found these two lanterns at this place they call the "junk" store.... Anyways the first one i pulled out from the dirt was a !965 220F without the globe and some paint peeling

Then I pulled out from the dirt and dust this beauty which wasnt so pretty when i found it due to black spray paint all over it.

when i saw the F.S. stamped in the side of the tank i was happy and knew i had to buy it.... no globe and i think some of the nickle coating is wore off.
there is a stamp on the side of the tank that i can see but faint and it reads
"Coleman Quick-lite with the numbers 6 12 stamped really small under it. so my question for everyone is what year would this lantern be? 1936, 1946. and also which model of lantern is it.....Also there is nothing stamped on the bottom and the bottom is red and flaking, I dont think the hood on top is right either but maybe one of you pros will know.... Thanks alot with any of your help..... Brad

Hi Brad. I'm no expert on the Coleman Quicklites but I think the second lantern might be 1926, any your right the top is not original. Ageless beat me to it about halfway down the page.

The 220F should be a good running lantern after it's cleaned up.

It looks like a lanternstien to me. The vent wrong. The valve wheel is older than the fount. The fount appears to be a Canadian 427. If us was a US Forest Service lantern it should be stamped USFS. I wonder if it is a Canadian Forest Service lantern.

I am going to post you picture on the Coleman forum to see if they can ID it.
