Old 413D Coleman Stove

Postby TD Beej » Sun Oct 31, 2010 6:06 pm

Picked this up for $10 off CL. I liked it because it looked old and was cheap, and well this forum is clearly warping my mind. I haven't put any fuel in it yet but I haven't found any apparent problems with it. Anyone have any info or advise for me.
Thanks,
Beej

Wow! Good deal. I don't need one but I have to say, If I were confronted with the opportunity to buy that for $10.00 ,I think I would. Is there a date on it, maybee on the tabes on the tank?
Thanks for the look. Keith :)

Nice find, looks like it's in very good shape! 8) 413D was made from '50 to '53. Use neetsfoot oil for the pump, it's better for the leather than a petroleum based oil. Turn the little lever on the side of the valve up to light, after a minute or two turn it down to run. Don't open the main valve all the way until it's had a chance to warm up a bit.

And watch out when storing it in dark places, they multiply like rabbits if left alone for too long

Nice stove...I really like the flat ended tanks! Not in bad shape...for 10$ you didn't get stung on it, you got a deal! Doug

PS...the rod on the lid can hold towels when the lid is locked with the wings, and it's a support when you open the lid all the way open, so it doesn't stress itself on the hinges.

Nice find on the 413. I like this series because they are a little bigger than most and can take a nice size CI skillet. I love the one I picked up for $5 and with a little simple clean up and paint they look and work like new. Enjoy!

Thanks for the info everyone. I still haven't found any kind of date on it anywhere, and I guess I need to start looking for some neetsfoot oil too. I'll clean it up and maybe I can discover a date somewhere.
