Coleman in TV/Movies

Postby Wolffarmer » Sat Nov 06, 2010 11:38 pm

I watched the first installment of AMC's "The Walking Dead" on Hulu last night. Yet another Zombie show. In the first bit there is what appears to me is a 242 lantern. At least it is a pre 200 single mantel lantern. It is in the first of the show before any gruesome stuff happens. Later on there are 2 profane lanterns of who cares manufacture.

Any other TV/Movie/stage appearances of our beloved pressured gas devices? And I don't mean the campfire in "Blazing Saddles".

WC Fields in "It's a Gift" 1934....WC is going cross country in a Model A with a 220B hanging on the outside mirror. Also seen in this movie, a Coleman stove on folding legs.

"Charlie Chan in Egypt" 1935....Charlie and Steppinfetchit enter a tomb toting a 220. Doug

Never noticed that one before Scott! Somehow, they must have done something with the lighting on it....if it were an actual working military, you'd hear it roaring in that hooch and the light wouldn't give the right effect for the scene. Good find! Doug

a couple that I know of were "They were Expendible" with John Wayne, using a 220 over a table in a scene and "the Thing" with Kurt Russel, using a 222 and a 275 in different scenes.

At exactly 1:18:00 Henry Rollings walks past a copper colored cylindrical stove tank lying on the floor in Wrong Turn 2.
