Bummer!

Postby Mark72 » Sat Oct 22, 2011 8:50 pm

I just got a call that an old hardware store that I frequented to buy NOS Coleman parts at is burning to the ground! They had 2 old dealer parts assortments that I attempted to buy boxes and all. the owner was not interested in selling the whole thing so I would stop in and buy a hand full of parts whenever I was through there. A lot of good stuff going up in smoke that you can't buy. And the stuff was cheap too I don't think they had updated the prices in 20 years.

What a drag Mark....I remember when you PM'd me about them and sent me some parts from their store and mentioned about buying up the entire Coleman parts stock. I sure wish you could have gotten the whole bunch. I feel for the store owners...such a loss, just heartbreaking! Doug

George's Gateway has been a long time community business in Bedford Indiana for generations. I hope they can survive this and continue on!

Here...we have Placerville hardware...it's the oldest continuous operating hardware store west of the Mississippi. I think it's like 150 years old now, same location. They have a lot of stuff, but there's lots of more "touristy" items now as they are sort of riding on the "old store" reputation. It would be a big deal if they were gone though! Doug

I have been a tourist in the Placerville store. The cool old school front drew us in. Bummer about the burn down.

Hey Mark I was just thinking, it is possible that those parts may survive the fire after all they are Coleman Lantern parts. If you know the owner or can get access some how. Just a thought.

There is nothing left. I wanted the vintage part storage boxes as bad as the parts themselves!
