Can double-mantle lantern be used as single-mantle lantern?

Postby dratkinson » Mon Nov 21, 2011 9:02 am

Assuming I don't need as much light as supplied by a double-mantle Coleman lantern, is it possible to plug one hole?

How?

Would fuel consumption be halved? Or would generator try to force twice as much fuel through the single mantle?

Yes, I've read the Coleman warning about unapproved modifications.

Was just thinking "what if" until I can find a single-mantle lantern.

The simple answer is NO.

The solution would be to buy a modern lantern that is adjustable.

Thanks. A Coleman 288 sounds like the simple solution. I'll put it on my list.
