Picked 3 colemans up today

Postby racermech » Sat May 05, 2012 3:52 pm

So I was pulling my dads new to him trailer back to the house. We took back streets because of some lighting issues. We ran across a garage sale that was actually an estate sale. First thing I found was a 242, glass is broken and it is missing the top nut. But it is all there. Looks like green top with nickle bottm, even has a mantel still

Kept walking around and I ran into another old looking lantern, so I grabbed it as well. It looks to be a NL 323 or IL323 according to this page. http://www.geocities.jp/gkpllantern/31_Coleman_QL.html It still has the mica screen. Looks again to be green and nickle

Last one I found hanging out behind some other stuff. It has the original glass, but it is missing a knob. Around the "neck" it is perf with coleman.

I will get all 3 posted up this weekend. I am a little torn as to cleaning and restoring all 3, or just selling them off.

Careful there..... it can be very addicting collecting lanterns. ;) I haven't seen either one of those since I have started collecting a few years ago.

Here are all 3.

The 242....

Not sure what the 2 and 3 are stamped on the bottom...

This look to me like a QL327?? I can see what looks like an O and just a little bit away is a 7, QL327 is the only thing I can find that makes sense. The mica is there, no idea if it is the original or not. I do not see any sort of date stamp right now.

And this might be an L327, It has a glass bulb, that is etched with the old coleman logo. It seems like this would of come with the mica screen. Maybe that broke and it was replaced with glass at a later date (30-40's is my pure guess) Kinda cool how it has the schrader valve to pump it up. I do wonder what the "64" is stamped on it

Any information would be of great help on these. All 3 look to be nickle and they all look complete

The 242. The top does sit straight and correct. I just did not put it on correct when I did this.
