Sears lantern 1978 (update)

Postby Joamon » Fri May 18, 2012 3:47 pm

So I went to an estate sale today around the corner from my house. I looked around the back yard before they opened and from the fence I saw two lanters. By looking at the vent I wasn't too excited. When they opened and I was able to get close and I saw they were sears I kinda changed my mind. They were having 30% off and one of the lanterns was NOS. I bought this one and took it home, took it apart and gave it a shine up. I am starting to really like the sears stuff.

Tomorrow is 50% off day. I may go back and see if the other one is still there.
I am kinda like Kirk. I like the thrill of the hunt.
But I also like to give them a home.

Thanks Keith

Nice lantern. I to like the Sears. I have a couple in the pea green. I fixed a Sears bighat for a friend that had a powder blue vent and font. Still looking for one of those for myself. But the hunt is the fun. Go back and get the other lantern. Before you know it you will have 50 lanterns!!!

What are you guys talking about. Sears coleman is the holy grail! Buy it.! Keep it.! In California the sears stuff does not exist.

A little late posting this but I went back to the estate sale the next morning to see if the other sears lantern was still there. ( 50% off)
It was still there along with a couple of other things. The first one I bought (1978) was like a 220k and this one (1974) was like a 220f.

This is one of the few lanterns that I have ever brought home and been able to light right up. It had been sitting for years and it lit with the same fuel mantles and all.
I also got a stove stand and a cooler. :D

Nice find..I like those Sears green lanterns..don't think I'll ever own one, but they sure are nice.

Especially nice that one was 50%off and fired right up!

Why? Why, dont we ever see that green Coleman stuff in California? It make me want it even more. Many times I have had my finger on the enter button on e-bay to buy some of that stuff. But, its not fun for me unless its cheap so I will just suffer. Thanks for posting . :x

Very well found....what a princess of a lantern!! Jeremy has a load of the blue Sears stuff, I have none, but am sorta looking. Who knows where you will find something and where? It'll just pop up. A buddy of mine this last weekend was at a local flea market and found a nickel plated lantern of which number he couldn't remember. The seller wanted $90!!! He passed, but heard just about how "rare" it was. There are plenty of them out there to be found, however you may need to kiss a lot of frogs till you find your prince, or princess as the case may be. Doug

Kirk....patience grasshoppa' (don't know if you will remember that reference or not)

Are you kidding I loved Kung Fu. Kwai Chang Caine!

"But Master - if the blue lantern does not exist in California does it even exist at all?"

To have the marks of a true Shaolin Coleman Priest you must pick up the super heated lantern with your forearms, then and only then can you hunt Coleman in the wild.

Nice lanterns. I don't have any Sears stuff, Yet. I am on the look out for Western Auto Revelation stuff. Don't know why I am but I am. I have a stove, 2 water coolers and a lantern on the way.
