AGM 2572 Restoration

Here is another AGM with a stress cracked fount saved. I bought this thinking it was in working condition, only to find it had a tiny leak in the fount.
It had a perfect vent and the original yellow globe.
Monday I took the vent to the paint dealer and had custom auto paint mixed to the right color then put into rattle cans.
Then took a Sears fount. Drilled and tapped it to take an adapter that would accept the AGM valve. If the fount had the pump on the opposite side you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Sorry ;I didn't take in progress pictures. But; It's pretty straight forward once you get into it.

The first thing you need to do is measure the height your valve stick out on the original AGM fount. You need to make sure it's the same including the adaptor when mounted on the new one. I had to grind off most of the original coleman threaded nipple to get this measurement right.

Then I just bought a 3/8" to 1/8" pipe adaptor at the auto parts store then drilled the fount out to the correct tap size.

OOOH...It's a lantern! The only place I've ever seen the designation "AGM" used was "Air to Ground Missile." I thought somebody was going to EXTREMES to discourage bears from tearing up the camp.
