BOING! That's four good-looking red lanterns you have there, sir.

I dunno when Coleman changed the ventilator on the 200A (1965-ish?), but up until now when I studied Doug's posted pic, I thought I was kinda partial to the earlier vent. Now, I'm not so sure... I sure like that lantern, though.

Can't wait to see what you do w/ those wunnerful nickel-fount-and-green-vent 242 jobbies.

Dean...I got the 242's together today. Most all of these need a generator, and I'll do some more polish work on the uprights on the 242's. For some reason, they don't want to clean up at all. I need to get some emery cloth and work on them. All my other techniques aren't working and it's a bear to get a polishing wheel into that frame. I need that Karate Kid...wax on, wax off! Doug

Some of you may be asking "what's this all about, why is Doug showing Dean these lanterns?".....Well, the thing is...the IRG is such a special gathering, that Dean decided that we should do up something special for the awards. We think they will be.

More than a year ago...I started collecting lanterns, and I said that I would do the resto on them for the awards. The plan is, and this is why none have globes on them...Dean is going to etch the award into the globe. Scott Stewart has done up a (yet to be revealed) Jeremy designed "Commemorative Edition" vinyl sticker for them, and Jeremy and Justin have donated parts, Mike A did the bead blasting on them.

It's a real group effort to make something special for the awards. Thanks to everyone involved, it wouldn't have happened without your participation.

There won't be any pics of them with the globes until the event, as there is no point in taking our chances on shipping the globes once etched. Commemorative decals won't be applied until all are tested as burners.

Thanks everyone for your efforts! Doug

Nice!!!

This is almost enough motive to finish my camper and drag my butt to Cali. Is one a prize for farthest traveled? Would Okiehoma be far enough?

Good Question... The Longest Trail Award is given out not by how far you traveled to get to the event, but by how far Pamplin Grove is from your front door, as asked in the registration form.
