Craigslist Find - Coleman Model 413G Stove

Postby PresTx82 » Sat Jan 08, 2011 6:32 pm

I found an old Coleman Model 413G stove on Craigslist and went to look at it today. I couldn't pass this up for $15.00. Only had to drive 40 miles.

The man had a Coleman 220H Lantern in a mummy case but he wouldn't budge from $50.00. I didn't let him know I collected them and he said he knew that the price was high but he said the lantern is "more for collectors" and they'd pay the price. He said he priced it according to what he saw on Ebay.

The stove is in perfect working order so I don't know why he was so low on that item. Anyway, I got a good deal.

Nice find. The 413 is a larger two burner size that I really like. I picked up a 413F about a year ago and really like it. I think you'll be very pleased with it.

Enjoy.

Hey Mark!!!! you got the perfect stove to make a gold bond clone out of.... The 50$ on the 220 was completely out of line, unless it had never been fired. Nothing special about a 220 that age. Doug

I have added 2 413 Es to my pile this past year. One in pretty good condition and the other is a bit dented and missing the useless legs, also the towel bar.

They both work fine.

"Gold Bond Clone? What do you mean, like one of the gold color stoves?

Some people think they got a gold mine and want top dollar with these things. I know where two nice Coleman lanterns (circa. 1980s) are sitting in a flea market for $17.50 each. I just hope they sit quietly until I can get there.

My family and I will be heading out tomorrow morning to do some target practicing in the desert and we're bringing the stove along to heat up some hot chocolate - because it's gonna be cold! ;)

Bingo! gold bond stoves were created by Coleman exclusively for the gold bond saving stamps program. Lanterns are hard to clone, since they had a porcelain top, but stoves are easier as they are all paint.

PS...I'm not suggesting that anyone do it for personal gain...let your conscience be your guide. Doug

I just went out and looked them up. There's one on Ebay for $750.00 right now.

I think I'll keep it original as it should be!

Just finished up these beauties today - two 220 K and a 220F - got all three for $20.00 and did a full resto on em'. I didn't take a befiore shot - but believe me they were in pretty sad shape - BUT they had all the parts. A little bit of cleaning, stripping, and paint goes a long way

Not to hijack the thread, but Scott....those are BEAUTIFUL!!! Did you use the Rustoleum dark hunter green on the fonts? Great gloss on them!

Mark...it would be bad form to doctor up a Gold Bond stove and sell it. I"m with you...Doug

Did you re-enamel the tops?

Nice work on the lanterns!

Nice find on the stove. Thinking I might be better off finding a 413 instead of using my 425E. I keep scorching the front of it.

You need to build yourself one of those "scorch shields".
