A new project 426B

Postby doug hodder » Fri Apr 15, 2011 10:17 pm

I was down at Rich and Penny's (aka Rocketgirl) a couple of weeks ago...mentioned that I needed a project to do up. Rich had this 426B partially disassembled and ready to be restored. He picked this one up for 10$ I think at a garage sale...also got a couple of cans of fuel with it as I recall.

I got it all stripped, some blasting, lots of sanding/prime/paint work, and a good soaking on the chrome in some citric acid....it's not going to be a traditional Coleman paint job on it. Shot some paint on some of the parts this evening....need to finish paint work tomorrow, not rattle can, sprayed it with the detail gun and a catalyzed enamel. I do the interiors first...then mask and shoot the exterior. Stay tuned....for a Sunday unveiling (sans decal)....hopefully. Rich gave me artistic license on it, hope he likes it! Doug

Shaun.....not exactly custom...well, sorta...but mostly leftover paint from a previous job...you'll recognize it. I really want to break out an air brush and do up a "flame" paint job on one....Doug

Another great job Doug. I have seen that color before. Add the flames. I think that will put in in the resto-mod category. Maybe just do the inside lid with flames coming up above each burner. What ever you do it will be cool.
