Yep... too late. I'm a goner. Image

I said I only wanted "three" of these wonderful little 200A lanterns... but, now I'm thinkin' maybe I want 25 or 30 of 'em so I can hang 'em around my canopy like other people hang a string of chili pepper lights...

While getting to "know" my little red lamps and what they like as a start routine I've been out in the garage with the two of them running on either side of my head, 4 feet apart, as if they were hanging from the corners of my open galley hatch.

I'm going to make stands for them out of something... and put a lamp on each side of camp... The Sunshine Of The Night.

:lightbulb: :lightbulb:

Thanks! Shaun, Dawn, Paul, Scott, Gus, Jeremy, Eric (yes! I've seen those! WANT!), Tom , Doug and George!

Shaun posted this link to a 200A overhaul for another forum member in another thread. It's a complete How To.

Chris...between a number of the IRG attendees...you'll get a real education on gas pressure stuff. I may drag up my 1930 2E. You just need to hear a mil-spec lantern burn....the bright nickle fount on a vintage 242....so many new things to experience....Doug

Doug, I'm sure I'll be sent on a journey of awe and wonder...Maybe there'll be so many Coleman stoves and lanterns burning that you could hold the First Annual Night Times' Teardrop Derby! Racing under the lights!

But, srsly... The first gas pressure lantern I thought I wanted recently was the Centennial, with it's chrome (or is it nickel?) fount and green porcelain hat. But it's overall too-large size and the dual-mantle thing wasn't happening.

And then I discovered the lovely lil' 200A. ...and the 242C... and... and... help!

Anyway, thanks to the intarnet to0bz I've been able to quickly determine for the first time what's what. I won't remember much, but, hey, it's a start.

Check this guy's collection. Holy Freakin' Cow.

I agree.....you gotta be an "Army of One"! Jeremy was kind enough to give me the gift of one, Korean War version.

Chris...It's not easily available right now...but you'd like the 242B with the mica shade....really has a great look. 242's are slightly smaller than the 200's if small single mantle is your thing. Doug

Johnny/Ivar the Red just found what looks like a Coleman military lantern on his neighborhood craigslist for $10.

I told him to send it to me and I'd send him $25.

OH Gawd, I have been infected and am going to have to start attending garage sales. The propane one I have been using for 6 years is a thing of the past, Goodwill here it comes. This is mostly Doug's fault, but there have been other contributing members including the one that started this thread. Thanks Chris. I am also one of the "has to have it now" types and will pay more than the going rate.

I need a new Avatar. I'd put my dog up there but she doesn't look much like me. She's the skinny one.
