Wow, do you know the year of that one?

Also, is that yellow splatter paint job original?

Ah, the Weber Ranch Kettle? The party grill.

I love Weber Kettles, but Steve Raichlen annoys the @$%& out of me. He's so anal about a clean grate and perfect grill marks.

I grill like a MAN!!! 8)

Original splatter paint, spent most of it's life in the garage. We think it's gotta be from the 60's.

I think you're right, mahn. I mean, it's totally groovy, mahn.......

Safety, pish posh!! We don't need no stinkin' wooden handles..... burn the pi$$ out of your hands!!

I'm being a wise acre.... that is pretty cool!! Good score!! I've been cooking on Webers for about 20 years in some form or another. I got a gasser (Grillmaster or something like that) about 10 years ago, did okay but just didn't have that taste that charcoal has. I abandoned it and became a place for hornets to make their nests in.

If you ever get tired of it, let me know. It would be fun to restore one like that.

It would?

I've got a lil' black Smokey Joe that I've had for over 20 years... but I haven't used it in 10! It's in great shape, save for the rusty grate. Some heat and some brushing and it'll be ready to go. It's going to go into my .5-teardrop camp wagon.

Good thread!

Chris, those Smokey Joes also make a good windscreen when dutch oven cooking.

I love cooking in a Weber Pot.

Any grilling on anything with a lid is a little bit of "Baking" too, which I love as well.

The first Weber Pot I ever got;

About 15-18 years ago I rented a 40 yard dumpster and when I got it..it was empty except for a Brand New Weber Pot half in and out of the original box, never used with 1 broken leg.

I quickly replaced the broken leg with a piece of 3/4" EMT.

I still have it, and another.

Weber Catalog 1973

Postby dobyman » Tue Jul 13, 2010 8:31 am

I gave my kettle away many years ago when I updated to gas, but I was at an estate sale and I bought some vintage magazines and stuffed inside one was this 1973 Weber catalog. Perfect condition, 8 color pages, with all the grills, accessories and prices.

Ah yes. The old "White Belt & Shoes" days.

I think the "Mullet" came a year or so after
