I don't know how this happened.

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Thanks for the help. I will post a picture on Thursday of the vent and globe. The globe is thin and slightly yellow.

If you can get a good pic of the generator, that would be helpful. I may have some...picked up a box of parts and I have some really odd ones in it. Doug

The looks to be a T88 generator. The tip cleaner is part of the actual generator.

Hope these pictures answer any questions. I sure appreciate you guys helping me out. Doug, how do I know if the generator I have is good? Should I be practicing on one of the more common lanterns before messing with this one? The globe is not yellow it was just dirty. There is still fuel in the tank. Is there a place to go where there is a tutorial on restoring lanterns properly? Thanks again.

First of all, I have never seen a globe like this before. I posted you picture on the Coleman forum to see if there was any info on it.

As for the generator, pump a little are into the tank, spin the tip cleaner ac couple times and the crack the valve. You should hear air & then a gurgling/ spitting noise. If you hear this, it should be ok. If not it may need to be cleaned or replaces.

You may want to tackle a regular 220 before tackling this one.

Thanks Jeremy, Is the tip cleaner the metal loop in the second picture? The lantern is at my shop. I won't be back there until Monday and I will try what you said then. I did pump it a few times but it did not seem to hold any pressure. Thanks for asking about the globe. It seems a little thinner then the newer globes and has some irregular spots on the edge, maybe kiln marks?

Yep, that is the tip cleaner. You want it in the down position to get max flow.

Pull the pump out and oil the leather. Try swapping the fuel cap with a newer on to see if it will hold pressure.

If you need a generator...I may have one that will fit. I've got like 4 of those, all are used however. I'm thinking, they are hard to come by and this person squirreled away a bunch of them. Any time I find a box of parts...I get 'em...never know what's in there...I got generators for stoves for 1$ ea. also, new in packaging. Doug

I've used up the new ones I found...but probably have a used one on a parts stove that would work. Doug

You won't know if it needs a generator, till you tear it apart and do a good cleaning on it and get the thing to pump and hold pressure. Jeremy kinda brings up a good point. A 220 would be a good one to practice on...once you learn the theory on how it all works, it helps to give you an understanding on how to trouble shoot one. I sort of think of it like a car. It doesn't matter if you put a new carb on it, if the rest of the engine is all worn out. Doug
