I landed a 242

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Postby DragonFire » Wed Nov 23, 2011 8:52 pm

Slow: what kind of collection do you have?

I have a stove about 80 miles away...and a lantern. Will get them back in the spring.

Meanwhile I have my 200a and my 220F. I want an older stove..something different than the mid 70's model up in Camptonville, CA. Something I can rehab and use as a second stove when camping (my tear has a built in stove)..

I'll be scouring the 'hood for Coleman this weekend. Don't know if I'll find anything, but you never know!

While it is not in my possession at this time...a customer has gifted me what I'm led to believe is a very nice condition 413G. This age stove has no attraction for me. Once I get it, I'll check it out and it will be offered up free to anyone wanting to pay the shipping on it, or a meet up at a gathering. Doug

1965-1969? I'll take it off your hands!! Hey, I'm that vintage so I'd be happy to have it. I think I need a spare stove anyway!

I don't think you are far from me. Not sure where you are, but it may not have to be shipped.

Let me know what you think when you get it! :D

So don't be green....I've seen you when you're green...you're much better in a flesh tone.

I've given away a lot of my lanterns...only have maybe 12 now, and none are duplicates...after all...just how may of the same thing can you have? 10 220J's...yeah..that's what I want.... And for what purpose?...I also have no duplicates on stoves of the same years either. Any duplicates will be restored and eventually will go to someone else or the original owner who will appreciate them. Doug

I have 4 220's, not sure of the letters right now but from 1950 to about 1955. One is a 1950 nickel font birthday lantern. One was owned by a high school teacher and friend of mine. One I seriously do not think has ever burned gas. Still in the box. Mantels on it where fired but as there is unburned mantel above the string I know those have never burned gas. And one that is nothing special.

My 1950 is a B. pretty nice nickel font. It seems that the Canadian lanterns might have kept up with the numbering of the months. There does seem to be a mass confusion during this time and now trying to sort it all out. Not that it is of world shaking importance.

Thanks

Randy

Kirk...somehow I'm not surprised

I like the old lanterns...I wouldn't mind having another one or two different ones for display, but I also want to use one or two...and have a stove that I can use in addition to or instead of the one built into the Grasshopper.

Some of the other items are really interesting..if one jumps out at me somewhere maybe I'll get it, but will probably stick with a small lantern collection. Especially if I can learn to restore them...then I can fix them and pass them on. Keep the old Coleman alive!

Yeah, I knew I was going to catch the addiction. Camped with Coleman products since I was 7 months old, so it was bound to happen!

Sounds like you could be a 'Coleman Keeper' too!!

I would love to have one of the old 20's ones. Maybe I'll find one at an Estate sale or something some day. I'll keep my eyes peeled!

Restoring these things sure makes for a good winter project. I took today to season a new cast iron fry pan, work on the lantern, and continue to seal the wooden sink insert for my Grasshopper.

Get working on your Coleman winter project so you are ready to go teardropping in the spring!!
