Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Well, in spite of Slowcowboy's opinion I see way more double mantle green 220 and 228 models than 200As. It does not mean that they are rare, just far less common than the double mantle lanterns. I like my 200A because it is smaller, easier to use and seems to put out just as much light as the bigger lanterns. At least as much light as I want. I would surely prefer another 200A to another double mantle but I have enough of each. :)

Don't forget the green 200A's, or the nickel 200's.

Are new parts still available for these lanterns or do you have to scrounge for used parts?

I just sold my boat today. Some of the proceeds are going toward more red globes, they are awesome!

I thought I'd let you guys know that you can have your own globes stained red. Depending on how much you paid for the globes it could be a good cost savings to send some in. I don't work for this company and I don't get any reward for recommending them. They have stained many globes for me and for the most part I've been very happy. One of my red ones has streaks in the color but it's still great.

They don't take China made globes for staining red but they will stain them amber. The cost is like $10 plus shipping, lots better than eBay prices.

What is the benefit to having a red globe?

Is there any beyond appearance?

Pressure Gas lanterns are super bright. Even the single mantle ones are too bright most of the time. The red lens tames the light. So its not like the Sunshine of The Night.

And you just dont see them often so there is the cool factor. 8)

Not a 200A but I do have a 220F from October 1971 that I'd be willing to let go. Email me if you are interested and I'll get some photos for you.

I've also sent several etched globes to be stained red and amber, green and blue isn't an option but it would be cool if they could.

I should send this one in. :D

Used by hunters and sky watchers. It helps to light the area while maintaining your night vision. That's what I've heard anyway.

I had not thought about the hunter/skywatcher aspect. I have heard any time you move the light into the red band of light, it preserves your night vision better.

If found this discussion LINK about it but it's not scientifically backed but seems accurate.
