How about a winter "Coleman stove"contest?

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

I can judge if we get this going. I have my 413, but since it's the one we used when I was a kid, I decided to keep it as is. I have no plans to buy another.

OK, Bill, you are the Judge. All you really need to do is sort of follow the thread and post up the pictures of the entries. Then tally the votes. Thanks for the help! :applause:

It would be real easy if there was a method to set up a poll. Than it would just be a simple matter to post pics of the entries and allow visitors to vote for their favorite. I don't see an option to create a poll, So I guess we can use the PM system for entries and votes. We need to dicide on how long we want voting to be open so we will know what to set for an entry deadline. I'll update my profile with my gmail address so pics can be sent there. That way I can post the pics at the same time. Once we get it all hashed out, it should be fun.

I guess it goes without saying that the entered pics should all be posted at the same time; otherwise early entries might accumulate more votes before the competitors arrive on scene.

I do not intend to participate, just the thoughts of an interested spectator.

I just saw a stove today that you wouldn't believe
We were cleaning out to old trailers and there was this coleman box with a stove in it had to be over 60 years old and mint condition it was this gentleman's fathers old stuff and he is now 70 so it has been around for along time and there was only a grease smudge on it wish I could of taken pictures I might try and see if I can get it in the next few days
There is a world, just beyond now,
where reality runs a razor thin seam between fact and possibility;

Anywhere I roam where I lay my head is home....

Just post them up in the Poll thread all at the same time, pick a drop dead date and no entries after that date, no exceptions. Then post the pics....no names given, just stove 1,2,3...etc...You can vote in the top portion where it asks the questions and gives the options. Everyone only gets 1 vote then, and you can't see how it's trending till you vote. At least I don't think you can see it till you vote. I'm an admin, so I can, just can't remember whether others can or not. This way, all the choices are in 1 spot, followed by all the entrants photos. No one has to pick through threads to tally up votes. Doug

That was what I was hoping to do, Doug. I just don't know if I can create a poll. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. If I can't, are you able to insert one in to an exhisting thread? If not, I can PM the final number of participants and you can creat the poll and I will post up the pics.

Ok. Sweet I found it. I can set it up. So when we set up the poll, do we want to link it to the general forum to get more voting traffic? and how long do we want voting to be open? It looks like we can have up to 50 participants without having to jump through hoops. I doubt we will have that many.

Ok. Let's see what you all think of this. Two burner stoves (common 413/425) only? Any custom design as long as the stove can still be opened and closed as designed. Must be a working stove. one suggestion was to cook something and post picture of cooked food, but I am inclined to just go with a picture of the stove with the burners lit. It stands to reason that if they hold a flame, they will cook (but I do love food porn). You can start customizing now (just don't let the cat out of the bag). Pictures should be of at least three different angles (one with burners lit) and sized per forum guidelines.Pics may be submitted to the email address in my profile. I will start accepting pics December 1, 2012. Deadline for entry will be December 23, 2012 (this will give me time to sort and post). Voting will begin on or about January 1, 2013 and be open for 10 days.

Any changes to the above? Just ask and we can discuss. All items are open to suggestion.

Would really like to see at least 5 stoves. More would be extra cool. Ask around, there may be free stoves in someone's garage.
