So as I seek more meaning in life and in camping I have decided to name my camp much like they do at burning man. This will give structure and meaning to myself and others who camp with me so we all know what to expect.

For you see I have been deprived of camping the last few years and I have made it a high priority to get out and camp this summer. My goal is ten camps, as that was my record in my younger years of camping - pre extreme responsibility.

I will lay out a manifesto of sorts for you all to help with. To fine tune and adjust so that we end up the the perfect camping structure. Structure is good, structure will give us the perfect foundation to build on. Camping needs to be explored and written about here so that we end up with the very best ideas.

Crazy talk? I think not. At the Dam gathering I saw all kinds of great ideas for and about camping. Things I would never have thought about on my own. This camping thing needs to be distilled, reduced if you will to a rich and meaningful glaze.

First I am just going to ramble a little about camping and then we will hit several subjects highlights. Among them
Food,
Sleep,
Music,
Activities,
Camp neighbors,
DO cooking,
and cooking in General. And no Food and Cooking are not the same thing.

When I went to the Dam I took wayyyyyyyyy to much stuff. I did not plan enough. My thinking was blurred with work and getting out of town. The problem was, I discovered, that I dont camp enough to know what I need and want at the campsite.

We also might need to talk about the dynamic of camping in the general population vs. camping at a gathering, the two are very different animals.

The name for my camp is CAMP SIDURI . Siduri was a character in a 12th century BC Epic Poem from the very earliest examples of written story telling. In the poem Siduri suggests to Gilgamesh that to be happy we need to " Fill our bellies and make merry day and night". This is not a direct translation or a scholarly interpretation, it is a camping philosophy that I have drawn from it. And I think the name is cool.

So CAMP SIDURI is born and there will be signage. Much like Doug has a sign that says " Hodderville" and the Five Wide guys have a whole neighborhood.

By the way this is not the first idea I have stolen from Doug. He has been doing this serious camp thing alot longer than me so no sense in reinventing the wheel.

Stay tuned more to come.

There will be some basic rules for CAMP SIDURI.

1. There will be no talk of several subjects. The punishment for speaking on forbidden subjects is the direct Shun. (You will be ignored or rejected from camp until you are forgiven) Those forbidden subjects are A. Work B. Medical issues C. Any talk of retirement benefits you may be receiving. There will also be no complaining of any kind.

2. Never under any circumstances will any person at Camp Siduri awaken any other camper who is asleep, naps included. It does not matter if said person is snoring loudly, face down in the dirt. Leave them alone!

3. It is ok to drink scotch anytime at camp Siduri as long as you dont get too drunk and go nuts. Out of control drunks are not allowed.

4. No vegetarians are allowed at camp Siduri at any time. If you are a vegetarian and slip passed the guards dont speak of the ills of meat or you will be shunned.

5. Do not use my sink in my teardrop unless you are willing wipe it clean of spots. No exceptions.

6. There will be no and I mean no store bought cookies at camp Siduri.

There will be many more rules, some written and some not. You will be expected to know all the rules and pass a test if need be at any time. Failure will result in being shunned until further notice.

A O.K, What about if they are on fire? Hey. It could happen.
3. It is ok to drink scotch anytime at camp Siduri as long as you dont get too drunk and go nuts. Out of control drunks are not allowed.
Once again I agree!
4. No vegetarians are allowed at camp Siduri at any time. If you are a vegetarian and slip passed the guards dont speak of the ills of meat or you will be shunned.
Can you tell that to my NUTSO sister in'law. She is the worst!
5. Do not use my sink in my teardrop unless you are willing wipe it clean of spots. No exceptions.
OCD are we? O.K. Judges say they will allow it because it is your trailer.
6. There will be no and I mean no store bought cookies at camp Siduri.
No problem here, I like to bake and cook when camping!

Thanks for the warning on the pop quiz!

At CAMP SIDURI you are not expected to bring tribute. What is mine is yours. You are welcome to anything I cook or bring to eat or drink.

One more rule. What happens at camp SIDURI stays at camp SIDURI. Just sayin.
