Canadian lanterns?

Postby Martinjmpr » Sat Oct 19, 2013 2:54 pm

How many others (both in Canada and elsewhere) have Canadian lanterns?

My Newest acquisition:

Image

"Oh, just a run-of-the-mill 200A" I hear you all saying.

Well, not quite:

Image

No date stamp on the base of the font, but very faintly (I don't think I can get a good photo of it) are the words "Made in Canada" under the Coleman logo

Image

Wife found it on Fleabay for about $11. Cost more to ship it from BC but it's mine now!

Needs a globe and a bail, those have been ordered from OC parts.

According to the guys over on the Old Coleman forums, a steel-fonted 200 with no date indicates maybe 1960's manufacture? Not sure but the paint is in great shape. Doesn't hold pressure yet, but will be working on it.

That brings my count up to four!

BTW if you find a woman who buys you old coleman lanterns, MARRY HER! :D

Martin. I have three Canadians now. 2 321B and a 222. I really like the 321Bs put out a mess of light for a smaller lantern

My 2/66 200a restore is pretty much done. It was an Ebay buy. I was the only bidder at $14.00 the before pics don't have the globe but it did come with the one you see in the after pics. I took it off to get a good shot of the rusty frame.

You will notice the cap is different. I tore up the screw on the original trying to get it apart. So, this cap is temporary until I get the right one. Other than that, everything is original. The frame was so rusty I almost painted it silver but decided to sand and shine it as best I could. After that, I sprayed a coat of high-temp clear on it. The Fount is Rustoleum Safety Red also with high-temp clear coat.

It passed the pressure test and It spurts when the valve is turned. Don't you know it, I bought the wrong mantles! :duh: Will have to do the run test when I get the right mantles so sorry, no money shot.

Scroll back to my last post for before pics.

So here is the real truth. Super Shady (Dave) and his wife and family are super great people. Him and Ted have really nice tears and lanterns. They are both worthy of the 200A gang. Stacy is also just what anyone would expect -- super nice and welcoming.. They all made me proud to be a teardropper.

Thats my story and I am sticking to it.

It was a pleasure meeting you Kirk!

Would love to see you out there next year with your trailer and lanterns. If it's as cold as Saturday night was we'll need more lanterns to stay warm  That's what I used mine for, a hand warmer.
