Where did you get those any way?

I see your MilSpec has the one piece globe. Is it marked US in olive green? I have one that is so marked. It is put away and I have a regular globe on that lantern for use.

Randy

Great lantern Randy.

No its just a regular red letter.

The red globes come from oldcolemanparts.com. Mike has red globes for almost any lantern. They are extra cool and always draw alot of attention.

There is junk seller at a local flea market, I bought a few lanterns from him. I bought a little air gauge from him so I can place it on a cap with a “T” and a schrader valve. That way I can use a small hand pump to put air in a tank to check for crack, and leaks without using the build in pump. He tells me “Oh Don’t over pump it. “ and shows me a scare on his leg . The store goes when he was younger a friend of his Dad use a compressor on a coleman lantern sitting on the ground so see how bright it would go. The bung started to leak and sprayed fuel on him and caught his pants leg on fire.

I was able to get 41 pounds in a empty tank just with the build in pump, over 200 strokes. If you think about it. you have to get 40 pounds of pressure to in the pump tube with the leather pump to eaquel the 40 in the tank before the ball will open and put in more air. That last 0ne pound took forever, before my arm gave out.

Actually you need to produce more pounds of pressure at the pump head to over come the pounds of pressure of the spring against the ball plus the pressure in the tank.

Whoot Whoot!

How much light would you say those red globes cut off compared to a clear or frosted one? From the pics I've seen it looks to be more than half; quite a bit more.
