hey Gus...how would you attach the handles so they withstand the heat...

OR...how do I repair my toas-tite so one handle doesn't fall off at inconvenient times??

Hang in there with your medical issues..you have to make it up here to either the Dam or IRG. Or both.

We are going to have a great time when we all get together in person!! Dang! This is what it's all about!

I still want to know about lantern cases...I'll start another (sigh) thread...

The handles on the waffle dog iron are just long 1/4-20 bolts with wooden handles. One just drills and taps the aluminum mold and screws in the handles.

Post a picture and I can offer ideas.

WILCO. Trying new meds, adjusting lifestyle, hope springs eternal that I can manage what I can't change.

I'm very close to sending in a check for the IRG and depending upon the time frame maybe the Dam Gathering. I plan (if the stars are in proper alignment) taking off for 5 or 6 weeks this summer. Family members can fly and meet me somewhere along the Pacific Coast.

Not really a difficult project. Some 1/8 luan, 1" square cleats, glue, hinges, and some foam and yer good to go.
The opinions in this post are my own. My comments are directed to those that might like an alternative approach to those already espoused. There is the right way,the wrong way,the USMC way, your way, my way, and the highway.

Gus...already signed up for the Dam...hopefully Kirk can go too.

Maybe we can get a burn going there, too.

I'm still going to post a thread in a few minutes to see what people have done for their lanterns. Lee must have something going. Doug probably has cases for the exact lantern from the exact year...but then he's a stove guy, so he doesn't have that many lanterns...unlike some of the REAL CRAZIES around here...

I'm frustrated by not having my Grasshopper here where I can work on it (get it cleaned up, replace curtains, load up my stuff, driveway camp...that kind of thing..) so I'm trying to get ready for gatherings in other ways. I work long hours 4 days a week, so lanterns get worked on Fri-Sun and sit again for 4 days. I'm trying to get all ready so I pull in with a soon to be purchased TV, a rare Grasshopper that has been previously viewed but updated in small ways by DragonFire, and a nice setup...including some appropriate vintage Coleman. So I realized I didn't have cases for the 'new' items I've picked up and have been eyeing Lee's empty milspec box...and started thinking that I could build some boxes....

Just keep your eyes on the prize, Gus. That would be camping with your TD friends at the Dam or IRG. You will overcome, or at least manage, the other issues. just keep focusing on the camping and your TD buddies. Positive, happy thoughts do good things physically for people with chronic pain, etc. Think of finding a gold bond lantern..cheap! and that will help immensely!

OMG! All this talk about using old socks... Last weekend I was camping at a So. Cal. dutch oven event with some friends. I had a bag of knit hats, and other various knitted stuff my mom made. I was sharing it with friends who wanted it.

This photo shows a calf leg warmers that I gifted to a friend. It would have been perfect for a tank cover. Oh well to late.

Did someone say DO campout??!!

So if I get a stove that matches my trailer, I'm going to have to get a tank cover that matches.
