Coleman Keepers Campfire come on in!

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Postby DragonFire » Fri Jan 06, 2012 4:19 pm

That's the way to do it...decide in the beginning what you are willing to pay, and stick there..keep the shipping in mind (sometimes I wonder why shipping for identical items from different sellers is drastically different...more than just a location change difference)...don't get caught up in the bidding wars.

I've gotten some really good stuff on ebay. But you have to be careful. Most stuff I've gotten is better than pictured and described. But I've known people who have bid on vintage designer purses and such and have received the item and it has been poorly re-dyed. Things like that. Gotta ask questions about your items. And keep a cool head when bidding. Do your research. And remember that if one of that item shows up and it goes really high, there is going to be another one someday that may not.

And finding stuff in the wild is more fun...unless you don't find anything for a long time!

I figured this would be as good a area as any to post this,I was bored so I was cleaning up some lanterns I havent used in a while and installed some new mantles. This was a 4 pack of #21 string ties the two on the 220 burn fine the two on the 228 look like a cow print what would cause this.

And the 228 is no where as bright as the 220.

Doug you are right, those waffle doggers have gotten out of hand, hence I don't own one. I WILL NOT pay those crazy prices.

Yeah Doug. You should get a percentage of every Waffle Dog cooker now.
Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind? Ask yourself these simple questions every time you are in doubt about any action.

I won't pay more than a certain price for a waffle dog iron either.

But I'm not sure it's all Doug's fault  ....somehow Hawaiians have gotten into waffle dogs or maybe they make Spam dogs... :o

Now...why do those mantles look 'cow print'????

FYI...I bought another 220f today for $4.

I haven't really checked it out...I was busy/distracted with taking the stuff out of my big trailer...some folks came over to look at it today...

I think that couple was looking for something else.

The people calling and emailing...I think they are potential buyers..know about restoration and they want specific things...one couple wants a larger Aristocrat with at potty, they restored a 67 already and it's beautiful. I'm hoping they will come up and look. The other guy is in SoCal and wants one like mine..can fix anything that needs fixing.

Main problem is nobody wants to get anything they have to do any work on. If that's the case, they should get something new. Or pay a huge amount and get one completely restored.

Mine has a beautiful interior, but it needs some work. And, since I never took it out, I really don't know how things work.

That's why I can handle my Grasshopper. I pretty much just need to figure out how to hitch it up and then back it up! Other than that, I can work the stove. Everything else is super easy.

Unfortunately, that's the way it goes on things like this sometimes. Someone decides that they want a vintage trailer, but has no clue on how to do any of the necessary maintenance or work on one to upkeep it, let alone any repairs that it may need. Somehow they think they can pick up a 40 year old trailer, hook and go and never have to do a thing to it. They can, but a fully restored one is going to be probably much more than they are willing to part with. Doug

And yea. Doug. You alone drove the ad price crazy by making it cool.

How many wd iron are there anyway ---- 15 maybe 20 in the world!

Got a fire going in the garage to warm it all up for paint curing....I only need another 10 degrees outside and I can spray the rest of the paint on the 44. Doug

I really liked the creamy white color you used on a stove. I dont remember which one but it looked real cool. So today I am going to get some white for a stove project.
