will the Mrs let you use the oven for curing?? Usually I warm up the objects that i'm going to paint slightly - seem to make the paint flow a bit better - then once most of the solvent has flashed off - then I bake in the oven at 170* for five minutes then let it cool down. I get a bulletproof (and fuel proof) finish. Of course you'd better remove any leather you may have - our it will be toast 8)

I've read about the oven curing method...was wondering how that worked..smell wise, etc. Don't need any more stove fires and the house full of smoke (from when I decided I wanted to burn the wax off a new CI pan)

Hey Kirk...you been working on your newest project stove?? How's it going??

I haven't touched the lanterns..I spent the day taking pictures of the big trailer and measuring stuff for someone in Santa Cruz...then they just said "no, we want one with a bed in back and turquoise>"

I think the wife doesn't like avocado green!!

This is making me crazy, selling this trailer.

So give me a mental break and show us your Coleman!

I have a Coleman furnace in the big trailer...I might change my avatar tomorrow if I don't have to spend the day with someone who wants a pink and black trailer but wants to know all about mine

I also got the CRV ready for action Sun. I know you folk like to fly low profile but I have found that when I am carrying a lantern or stove vendors call me over to show me Coleman stuff. So I am going to try a little advertising.

I know you think I am crazy and that may be true but my wagon will be full I will show you. 8)

Hey that rhymes. Kind of.

I dunno...guess I could find her and ask, she's on husband #3 now.

It cools off so fast trying to spray outdoors, I hustle and then take it in the garage and let it cure near the wood burning stove. Also...using acetone for the reducer is a lot hotter and flashes off quicker, so it's not so prone to a sag in the cooler temps...Hard to keep a good wet edge though. Doug

Kirk,
I know a couple of collectors that advertise what they are looking for. One guy collects fishing stuff. He wears a baseball cap that has a cardboard 8x10
sign on the front of it. I COLLECT FISHING it says in magic marker.

He does well. Another guy wears a tshirt with I COLLECT FOUNTAIN PENS.

So your wagon should do the trick. The only thing about letting people know that you are a serious collector is they tend to ask more for anything you express much interest. They figure you know your stuff.

Good luck filling the wagon! There is plenty out there.

Believe it or not I'm at a party and I'm checking in with you guys... I saw one of those Coleman water jugs but passed...it was blue and perhaps a bit new....hopefully I can work on the lanterns tomorrow

Kirk.. It's been windy here. Good luck at the bootfair tomorrow. The CRV looks good. I think it will help. Post when you get home. Looking forward to it!

I saw something I want on ebay...the gold 228F. Dang! How rare are those??

Anyone have one?? Gotta get that. I'm not paying the ebay price, so it will be a long time before I find one, but I WANT IT!! Even more than a 275. Makes me think about somehow turning one of my 220Fs into another color, but the vent color can't be changed.

If Kirk posts one of those today I'm going to die. He's just a few miles away with the CRV scooping up all kinds of Coleman....and I should be there or the antique fair doing the same.

They are pretty rare. But; you have a chance of finding one in your area.
Many of the ones on ebay are fakes. sso; buyer beware.

You can have the vents reporcelianed (sp?) for 25-35 plus shipping.
Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind? Ask yourself these simple questions every time you are in doubt about any action.

there is one on ebay that is fake right now, but they at least admitted it.

I may have to check into that reporcelain deal...where do I find someone who does that? CCF? It may be something to do for my 220f that is giving me so much trouble. It will just be a gold 220f, but it will look cool. And I don't have to worry too much about anyone walking off with it, since it won't be the right lantern for that color!!
